No peace in Nashville

They already have redflag laws in a bunch of US states where if someone claims a person is a "little off" cops can kick down their door and take all their weapons. When someone claims a person is building bombs there should be more then a knock on the front door and a quick background criminal check.

The FBI sent 13 agents to a Nascar garage with a door pull that was tied in a noose 12 months before a black driver used it, but couldn't spare a couple agents to go investigate a possible domestic terrorist?

The ball was dropped and the FBI and police failed their duty.
im sure they have a priority system in place, one can imagine that a country of 320 million nutbars has their fair share of domestic threats which probably range from credible to the ex gf calling in the bomb threat as payback. anyone recall the streamers that were getting the police kicking in their doors a few years ago?

That has its own verb. Swatting. Morons.

The worst situation is the person that holds out and thinks they can keep their country life surrounded by development. You kept your land but it is not the same. Normally the developers are ****** and make servicing your parcel almost impossible. You could have sold for 2.1 million (as an example) and been part of the development, instead you held out, realized it sucked and then are lucky to get 1.5 as you have an awkward parcel that cannot be realistically redeveloped surrounded by development. Honestly, if a developer offers you money, get some advice but normally their first offer is close to the best you are going to do. Lean on them too hard and they will orphan you.

1) Anyone recall the house that used to be in the middle of the parking lot at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Wilson Ave? Were they holding out?

2) There's a store at Islington and The Queensway that could have been part of the townhouse development next door. That lot would be almost impossible to redevelop now due to setbacks, parking etc. Is there a back story?

3) A friend owned a share in a parcel of land and the other part owner was constantly using legal maneuvers to drive him out of the market. At some point the legal costs to fight a developer exceed the possibility of decent profit and sleeping at night. Fortunately friend was friends with a lawyer with developer experience.

4) A developer will have traffic / urban planners on staff and they will draw up proposals to the municipality that will favour the development plan. that is the most profitable to the developer.

5) Our neighbourhood is being squeezed by developers wanting more high rise and Toronto has basically said there is no more land left so growth has to be upward.

All that, but in some other jurisdictions a property owner is guaranteed the right to sunlight.

Go look at the old honest Ed's property

They are building around a guy who tried to hold the developers hostage

After he seen they started building he came to them and wanted to sell

They said no the plans are already drawn up and his place was not a part going forward

When they offer to buy the first offer is usually more than fair

Next offer will be a lot less cause there's not as much money in the pot

While working with the store electrician at Honest Ed's I was told that Mirvish bought every property he could in the neighbourhood so Walmart couldn't assemble enough property to build a store. However it doesn't take a big lot to set up a dollar store.

I don't know the workings of the market but before dollar stores, Honest Ed's was the cheapest place for a lot of stuff. That, I think changed and when Mirvish senior died there may have also been a loss in interest in running the business when theatre and real estate was so lucrative.

.
There was a house like that at fortinos in hamilton. Commercial occupied the whole block except for one holdout lot with a fence around it in the middle of the parking lot. I think it finally got knocked down decades later.

Going to previous years it shows hoarding up and no house in 2009.

I heard of a different situation in Scarborough years back. Some home owners sensed a developer was sniffing around so everyone on the street got together and agreed to sell. No frayed nerves, no major legal costs on either side, no real estate fees and they got a bit over market value.

I assume the guy died and his estate dumped the property in 08. I don't remember the house being being there and I would have driven past it. Then again, when driving in Hamilton, dodging potholes and jaywalking meth heads trumps sightseeing.

I didnt notice it for a long time. I would normally be on the other side of the parking lot dodging methheads and didnt look out into no man's land.
