No peace in Nashville

Does one need to be somewhat technical to set off a bomb? I'm thinking "somewhat, right?", I mean connecting red wire to the red receptor or whatever these bomberman types do. Like what's the fkn logic?
1. 5G is bad
2. At&t does 5G
3. At&t is THEREFORE bad
4. kaboom at&t asset
5.
6......profit?

He was an alarm tech. It wasnt that hard 50 years ago, with the internet it is almost trivial.

As has been shown by a few gtam member, being smart and able to understand technical details is not necessarily correlated with logic or ability to see alternative viewpoints.

You're right. I think we should start teaching critical thinking before we teach literacy.

... or the ability to resist being drawn in by conspiracy theorists (who, in turn, generally take NO responsibility for what comes of what they sow).

I suppose we can now say that 5G has officially killed someone.

There's a whole subset of people (some are bots) on the internet claiming to be ready to start a civil war in the US over the "rigged" election. It's not a reach that a few of those may try to turn those internet threats into reality.

Most of us may laugh at these internet conspiracy theories, but there are people out there that truly think our society is under threat from whatever the boogieman of the day is.

Yeah. Had to go old skool and find an alternative bookstore that had this under the counter.

Now? You can (could?) get it on Amazon. Hardcover, paperback, or inkless. Don't know why they would pull it. It's almost a novelty now with what you can find on the internet/dark web.

LOL @ the comments. Yes, you are on a watch list. I know someone back in the 70s who's bedroom at the family home was searched under a warrant on another matter. His copy was seized and he was charged with an offence for it. Don't remember off hand what the specific charge was.

You can probably get hit with unlawful possession of bomb components or whatever they want to call it (in the US). Although we all have some wire and gasoline in our houses so that charge seems overly broad. I'm not sure how the courts treat it. I have no idea what Canada does (probably pays you seven figures and apologizes).

You can cook a decent explosive device using common, readily available, un- controlled components available at Home Depot and the corner gas station. (I've read the Anarchist's Cookbook. I bet buying it on Amazon is gonna get you on somebody's list. It's available for free download in PDF if you look. I bet looking for it will get you on those same lists. Use a computer at the library. It's dated, but still a good read). or just google ANFO
Having a bunch of fertilizer, diesel and race fuel at your house is not illegal in Canada, mix those components in 45 gallon drums, it becomes a bomb and is gonna get you looked at.
I doubt it's the same today but you used to be able to walk into any hardware store up north and buy dynamite, no ID required.
It was harder to get the detonators, you had to fill out a form... don't remember ever getting asked for ID though.
Those were the days!!
...then came the Squamish Five and ruined all the fun

This guy worked as an alarm tech, then a computer/telecommunications tech for 50 yrs. in the Nashville area, so he was probably in contact with AT&T every working day.
I have done the same job, but with Bell Canada not AT&T, while I do not condone his actions, I certainly understand the motivation. /s

The infrastructure that is barely protected is surprisingly easy to locate. I know of at least one similar switching facility in Toronto. No signs, but people freely talk about it. Appears to be a similar location at street level.

These days Squamish terrorists have moved away from explosives to industrial cable cutters. They took down the Sea-to-Sky Gondola. Twice, in the last year!
That one is interesting. Insurance settlement from the first time hadn't been settled when it got cut again. Additional security measures were added (cameras) so they can see the shadowy figures cutting it. Will they be able to get insurance to reconstruct again? It is a very difficult object to protect. Anybody know why someone was so opposed to this?

The only thing I can think of is that while we were living there, we noticed a very strong anti-townie sentiment in Squamish, even though its gentrified quite significantly from the old logging town days. Locals are sick of the traffic to and from Whistler and the cable-cutting was seen as an anti-tourism act.

I've seen it all over small-town BC: very strong anti-Vancouver and anti-Alberta rhetoric. My buddy who lives in Fernie says that the most popular local past time for guys is getting drunk on the weekends and starting fist-fights with the ski tourists that drive into town with red plates (Alberta). Red plate hate.

Getting drunk and picking fights with tourists is how I picture my retirement. Squamish you say....

LOL thats how I spent my teenage years... growing up in a beach tourist town can get boring after your morning surf.

Also apparently this guys ex told the cops a few years ago he was unstable and making bombs, cops knocked on his door, he didn't answer so they just forwarded the info to the FBI...FBI dropped the ball as usual..

Pretty sure I saw my first 5G tower on Mississauga Rd just north of the 403. South of the newer development there....but not 100% sure if that’s what it was.
