No more license stickers…

hubby and I got ours in the mail yesterday...our birthday's are the end of April if that helps for timing...there was an insert with the cheque stating clearly that "Effective March 13 you will also no longer be required to display a validation sticker on your licence plate." and that "Vehicle owners are still required to renew every one or two years at no cost."...pretty cool to have an extra $337.50 in my pocket...still didn't buy my vote though in the next election...

@bitzz according to their web, refunds are applicable to anyone who renewed after a certain date in March 2020...so if the last time you paid was in 2019, you technically don't qualify...

I think everyone qualifies, but it’s the prorated amount since March 2020. So for example if @bitzz renewed in 2019 and his birthday was in April, then he would only get a month’s worth of refund if he did not renew anything past his 2020 birthday. I’m in the same boat. I figured it was pointless to renew my plates last month just to wait for a refund, so I didn’t bother. So all I’m expecting is the prorated amount between March 2020-Aug 2020.

Got back the $720 I paid a week before the announcement plus a few more to make up the time from March 2019 to my birthday. Anyone want to bet that the first round of vehicle safeties will be less than this cheque?

I just got my income tax done and most of Dougie's cheque has gone back to the government coffers. What thrilling thing can I buy with $35?

Lottery tickets? 99.999999999999% chance you donate that to government too but a 0.00000000000001% chance you get a useful amount back. Otherwise food, fuel in a toy or give it to someone that is struggling. It's hard to find things for $35 that add joy to your life.

First world problem. $35 buys a dozen beer or a slightly above average wine.

Lotteries don't thrill me because I get P***** off if I don't win and worry about a home invasion or leaches if I do.

A nice urn for Putin's ashes would be good.

I'd say buy a hardox plate and ship it to ukraine but it's not enough money. My friend over there is helping Ukrainians build hard plates with foam and steel as they have carriers but nothing to put in the pockets. Plates have saved a few of the people he has trained so far.

Yay, I got my bribe from the government!!
