Next Canadian Election

Guilbeault and the cast of terrible people is supporting Carney. Carney isn't immediately rejecting their endorsements. That tells me all I need to know about Carneys morals.
I'm not necessarily looking for morality from a potential leader, but I am looking for someone who is ethical, principled, intelligent and surrounded by people who reflect those ethics, principles and values.

I'm apparently that mythical Canadian vote who is comfy voting either Conservative or Liberal, depending on the state of the country left by the last government. NDP? Never. EVER.

In my opinion party policy leading up to an election is more suggestion than anything else, other than a particular question that they think they can torque for their benefit. After they're elected all governments realize they can't do all they thought, and they start paying off the special interests that helped them get elected, in some cases to the detriment of the rest of us.

While I believe Mark Carney is smart, and in other circumstances I could see myself voting for him, I believe the current version of the Liberals is beyond redemption.

It's become the Trudeau Cult of Personality, reflecting Justin's narrow worldview more than anything else. I've seen (more than) enough of Steven Guilbeault, Pati Heydu, and all the groomsmen from Trudeau's wedding party that have found themselves in cabinet posts, and what I've seen is a collection of unserious people who lack both experience and accomplishment as well as competence or direction.

The smart people have already left or been pushed out of Trudeau's clown car. Jane Philpot, the former attorney general Wilson-Reybold, Mark Garneault, Bill Morneau, Anita Annand (recently announced) and of course Chrystia Freeland who I thought was a LOUSEY finance minister but an EXCELLENT Minister of Foreign Affairs. What's left isn't worthy of another chance.

Pollievre may be a flawed choice in many ways, and I'm sure he'll disappoint and annoy me on many occasions but Canada desperately needs a reset on far too many levels and issues.

Gilbeault has been quoted saying he'd resign if the current plan of accelerated carbon tax increases wasn't kept in place. He came out in support of Carney yesterday, which means Carney has assured Gilbeault that the carbon tax plan is still in effect in private discussions. If you vote LIEberal, prepare to be poorer.

Anita Anand? Really? How much money has been funnelled into her husband's company (LifeLabs)? ESPECIALLY during COVID? She's a pox and needs to be purged along with the rest of the 2Randy-esque grifters.

Yeah, I saw that Guilbeault endorsed Carney yesterday. As long as he's a driver in the liberal party, it will remain a clown car.

Lifelabs existed long before covid. She was at least intelligent and capable. She has also said she's not running again.

Her husband made out like a bandit from the “wink -and-a-handshake” unfetted funding tossed at friends of friends’ companies from Ministers during Covid.

I’d vote for an asthmatic gerbil before I’d vote for PP so this is a pretty low bar. I’m glad Trudeau is going. I hope Carney can distance himself from the cabal.

I've never voted liberal in my life, nor would i ever. I think they are as low as a snakes belly

Our eco-terrorist Environment Minister said he would resign if the carbon tax increases were stopped/lowered. He has since endorsed Carney, which means the two of them have come to an agreement to keep or increase the carbon tax going forward. That's all you need to know about Carney. He's not interested in average (small C) canadians. He's only interested in furthering his own agenda. We're already in a bad enough place as it is. He needs to be kicked to the curb.

So you want him to lie? There is nothing to distance from. He was a willing part of team Trudeau on multiple occasions. He is without a doubt smarter but expect more of the same stupidity regardless of what he says.

The problem is PP. He’s happily shown what he is and none of that appeals to me at all. A decent candidate with serious policies without the populist baggage might be tolerable.

The other issue is potential voters are currently watching what the version PP seems to moulded himself on do in the US. No doubt some voters will love that, others will be petrified and won’t want to touch it with a 10ft barge pole.

At least I can’t see Carney doing Tik Tok **** with pushups, or wearing whacky socks for likes. I don’t think it will be Freeland. She’s just unlikable.

Carney is likely to win the liberal nomination. I hope and expect him to get the igantieff treatment with a sound thumping in the election and a retreat to a foreign country to live out his life. It seems pretty clear that he has goals and an agenda with no concern for the pain they will inflict on citizens. PP wouldn't be my choice but I don't believe he will be as actively hostile towards the citizens.

Don’t vote/decline you ballot then. Voting for Carney by proxy is admitting that you’re fine with him continuing the destruction of the country that the fancy socks puppet wasn’t smart enough and/or too ideologically retarded to pull off.

At least he’s smart enough to ghost himself instead of doubling down when he sticks his foot in his mouth. I’ll give him that.

Who’s going to deal with the Trump insanity the best? That may be the most pressing issue right now.

I'm not sure it is. While carney may be most capable of dealing with trump, that's like hiring security to guard your car and the person you hired steals your house. You were better off letting the crooks have your car.

It is the most pressing issue. If Trump follows through with his threats that has the potential for hundreds of thousands of layoffs. We can hope it’s bluster. We have to prepare for it being reality.

Ironically I’m not sure Trump has totally thought this through. If Canada can’t sell aluminum to the US for example I could see China buying it. Protectionist policies could end up isolating the US more and opening markets to our traditional foes. It’s not like we’d sit back and think about human rights issues when thousands of jobs and our economy are at stake.

I don’t know what PP would do with Trump but I think he’s more likely to roll over for his role model.

Last i checked those tariffs were promised to be in place already, or was it march, or was it feb?

If it's the most pressing issue and we want to be prepared, parliament should be sitting..and last i checked our fearless leader sent them on paid vacation.

Why are people here getting huffy about Ford calling an early election. didn't see the same when the federals called one in the middle of covid

Liberals abdicated control in the face of Trump.
They’re now refusing to take responsibility for that.
PP is untested as PM, but he’s held responsible positions in the distant past.
Judging PP based on what the Liberals say is an exercise in futility. Judge the Conservatives and the Liberals based on what they do while running the country.

Edit: Is Ford trying to illustrate what the Liberals would have done before Trump, had they been ahead in the polls?
