I'm not necessarily looking for morality from a potential leader, but I am looking for someone who is ethical, principled, intelligent and surrounded by people who reflect those ethics, principles and values.Guilbeault and the cast of terrible people is supporting Carney. Carney isn't immediately rejecting their endorsements. That tells me all I need to know about Carneys morals.
I'm apparently that mythical Canadian vote who is comfy voting either Conservative or Liberal, depending on the state of the country left by the last government. NDP? Never. EVER.
In my opinion party policy leading up to an election is more suggestion than anything else, other than a particular question that they think they can torque for their benefit. After they're elected all governments realize they can't do all they thought, and they start paying off the special interests that helped them get elected, in some cases to the detriment of the rest of us.
While I believe Mark Carney is smart, and in other circumstances I could see myself voting for him, I believe the current version of the Liberals is beyond redemption.
It's become the Trudeau Cult of Personality, reflecting Justin's narrow worldview more than anything else. I've seen (more than) enough of Steven Guilbeault, Pati Heydu, and all the groomsmen from Trudeau's wedding party that have found themselves in cabinet posts, and what I've seen is a collection of unserious people who lack both experience and accomplishment as well as competence or direction.
The smart people have already left or been pushed out of Trudeau's clown car. Jane Philpot, the former attorney general Wilson-Reybold, Mark Garneault, Bill Morneau, Anita Annand (recently announced) and of course Chrystia Freeland who I thought was a LOUSEY finance minister but an EXCELLENT Minister of Foreign Affairs. What's left isn't worthy of another chance.
Pollievre may be a flawed choice in many ways, and I'm sure he'll disappoint and annoy me on many occasions but Canada desperately needs a reset on far too many levels and issues.
