I never understood why some (not all) govt employed scientists believe they are entitled to work product just because they draw a govt paycheque.

Tell me what line of business, academia excepted, where any employee is free to disclose work product or intellectual property without authorization?

Aren’t loose lipped scientists responsible for funneling Canadian infectious disease IP to China?

Or does the furor only erupt if the Cons are in charge?

If I pay their salary they should be able to talk to me.

Sadly your first sentence is wrong far more often than its right. What politician, cop, postie, scientist or garbage man will have an open and honest conversation with you? You may find a couple but they won't last long as the dark cloak mafia will drive them out.

Your second sentence I entirely agree with.

Good point. I did ask about that. He said their plan is to use Canadian energy to replace coal, and gas’s from hostile regimes.

You also pay the salaries for the fuel company, motorcycle company, and every other company you support or purchase from. Police too .. should officers be able to stand on a podium to disclose the names and investigatory details of all the bad guys they’ve researched?

Ya think a Honda engineer is allowed to spout off Honda emissions research to any special interests he may be connected with?

Maybe you don't but I believe there is a big difference private companies and the gov. Regardless of how you want to spin it, harper's gov was one of the most secretive. He wouldn't hardly speak to the press. All the underlings had to have their script pre-approved. Rather pathetic.

That's different than JT how? Everyone deflects and never provides an answer. If they slip and answer a question, they are fired. Maybe no written gag order but there is effectively one in place.

Had a rather lively discussion with one of my kids (they are in their twenties). He says Pierre doesn’t have to to make any changes and keep his foot on the neck of the liberals and NDP. They were leading by a land slide before the American election.

Now we have Trump in office, threats of tariffs, prorogue government while the Liberals figure out their next leader. I’m not as confident as my young grasshopper.

Maybe it’s age and growing more cynical over time?

All parties lie.

The next liberal leader candidates will tell us how they plan to run the country differently than Trudeau. No carbon tax but, let’s be honest they all fully supported the redistribution of carbon tax so , I’m not sure what scheme they plan to launch to replace it.

I’d like to know more how our country is going to deal with climate change, the economy, manage natural resources and deal with Trump.

No sound bites have really addressed this in any meaningful way.
