Newb Passenger looking for Ride-alongs

a noob pax requires great care & baby steps,

factoring a noob in how you ride can be critical for both,

i was coming up on a temp signpost in the road held in place by a cement pylon,

you're supposed to go around it to make a left turn, i'm talkin a basic very low speed street left turn,

sooo, since it was early am hrs with nothing else on the road, decided to make the left without going around the signpost,

rear pax freaked & leaned the other way so ended up bouncing off the concrete pylon & putting a hole in the right side engine case, lucky for us, that was about it

A good rider doesn't blame other people especially females because they are generally not accountable. Other than that, csb.

generalities aside, i was 17-18 at the time,

as discussed in another thread, high time & experience can also end up or amount to diddly, in a given situation

Well I'm meeting @Irocian at around 5:30pm and we're off to Mussel Lake... Dropped my phone & cracked the screen so the photos might be weird. I'll keep you guys posted. Hopefully he doesn't mind putting in a word or two about the experience.

What does that mean?

It doesn't have to mean anything. It's a visualization exercise. I'm seeing @JoeBrass bent over in the water closet, any water closet, fitting two pieces of brass together.

You must have a vivid imagination and not a pleasant one... Whatever fuels your engine I suppose... No judgement.

RIP Irocian.

LOL she is a good passenger and learning well.

I made it with everything in tack so wait to hear from her what she thought and what's she is going to say.

Thanks for your concern cancelled all 911 calls and cancelled everyone calling me every 10 minutes.

Look Dad#4 @Irocian gave me his extra helmet and gloves. IMG_20160905_183938-min (2).jpg

It was a great experience and to thank him for his generosity I'll be treating him to dinner. That being said the more the merrier, everyone is welcome to join us (I'm not treating everyone tho) But it's always nice to have company. We haven't decided where and when exactly. Any suggestions?

I was thinking of WVRST - Sausage & Beer... but up for suggestions. Maybe on September 16th which is a Friday.

I'll go get my own helmet and gear by the next season. A friend said he'll take me to a bike show and some shops... I'll keep you guys posted.

I've seen the same/similar. Was a group ride where the 2up had never been on a bike before. Ride went to Southwood, and after watching the bike go wide a few times it crossed the road and went into the ditch, flipping over. I had my helmet cam on timelapse at that time, and going through the frames it looks like the rider was leaning both cheeks off the bike trying to save it, and the 2up was leaning...the other way.

After that incident 2ups were banned from all rides unless they were extremely low-speed 'ride to lunch' rides or designed 2up rides on much less technical roads. Only exceptions were made to riders who had been riding together on the same bike for an extremely long period of time (and could probably drag knee with the 2up on the passenger seat).

Well, I have to say that this thread has been both awesome and disappointing to read for the past couple months. I was expecting a bunch of leg humpers to bombard this thread, given the nature of your request and, well, men are leg humpers.

But instead it got filled with gentlemanly awkward innuendos and a bunch of adults that were overly concerned about their organs being harvested by a 6'6 300lb female that just wants to be a backpack for a few rides every now and then, with assumingly experienced and responsible riders in this forum.

I got some good chuckles at your answers and I think you put at ease some of these guy's concerns, and some others are probably hiding somewhere in the woods just waiting for your first organ-harvesting victim to show up on CP24, to jump out screaming:

"SEE?? I TOLD YOU SO, YOU NAIVE NOW-SINGLE-KIDNEY FOOL!!!"

Even though I take certain things with a grain of salt and I don't jump to conclusions (and certainly don't run for the woods), your request seemed authentic and actually fun to participate in.

If you're still in a backpack mood in the next few weeks while weather is still good, let me know ;)
