Now that there is an SAE spec, that seems reasonable. Stick with the current rules for dumb lights but if you have lights that meet the spec, they should be allowed too. Very little government brainpower required (which is good because they aren't working with much).

Great, one more thing that can go wrong. My Acura has self-levelling headlights with sensors in the suspension. One of the plastic sensor arms broke, and of course you have to buy the whole $500 sensor because they don't sell the flimsy arm separately. So I zip-tied it as level as I could for now.
