MotoGP 2018

Rossi certainly did sound like he was playing it up in the hopes of getting MM the harshest penalty possible.

Gotta say I am not a Crashlow fan, and I dont always agree with what he says, but I do admire that he speaks his mind straight up and doesn't sugar coat anything.

Yeah, it's good to see more and more riders not putting up with the media crap.

Personally, I'm satisfied with the penalty enough to let the whole thing go. I can understand why Marquez's brain decided to shut down during this race, it had to happen sometime. Unless this happens again, there's nothing more to say. It was his first big disappointment as far as I'm concerned, he's not the first, he ain't gonna be the last

As for Zarco, he should be made aware of what he did with his move on Pedrosa. I don't think he realises things weren't as simple as he made them after the race. He tried to make room where there wasn't any and an apology is due.

Finally, as much as it looked ridiculous, I think their decision to start the race the way they did was really excellent. They kept it safe while retaining a disadvantage to simulate starting from pit lane. I wonder who came up with it.

Just caught up on the replay, and well... what can one say, hyperbole was expected by 46, but to say he has 'destroyed the sport' and then to go so far as to say that he's 'scared' is why I continue think that seat at Yamaha should have gone to Zarco for next year onward.

Granted, Marc deserved that penalty for crashing into Aliex but if Rossi is not ready or willing to ride at the front with Marc or Zarco and feel he needs protection from race direction then you need to come to terms that your better off managing a team and making your money off your brand than racing on Sunday. Mir isn't far behind to motogp and he is used to smashing elbows and knees from his Moto3 days.

I just saw the additional angles and interviews, and Marc certainly locked his front into the turn causing the accident but Rossi was much slower (as he admitted) but looked to still want to defend his position by putting himself on the racing line despite being a second slower. That's really just a racing incident, and nothing more; back markers are always hard to overtake because of this on track. The 30 second penalty is way out of order here.

Poor luck for Pedrosa, the Hondas had the pace the whole weekend for a total top 3 finish. I had thought Miller would have gotten a podium when everyone was hurrying back to the pits to change tires.

Good on Crashlow for P1 finish, if only to draw attention back to the race winners.

Where and how are you connecting Rossi being slammed into and him not being ready to ride at the front?

You’re continuous Rossi hate posts on here are starting to wear thin.

Have you ever raced? You're saying Rossi should not ride on the race line because MM is behind him somewhere. Get off the crack

Repercussions need to be carried forward into the next race. A 30-second penalty just nullifies the current race. Since they've done away with penalty points, they should just make him start at the back of the grid, same punishment for Rossi's "kick" in Sepang 2015.

If I remember correctly in that incident Rossi kept his race points while being punished in the next race. With your logic Marquez should keep his race points and start from the back of the grid in Austin. Marquez is crazy quick, even if he started from the back in Austin, there is a good chance he can get onto the podium.

This race with Marquez reminded me of the 400 series hwys, Marquez going crazy quick and trying to pass, and everyone else hogging the left passing lane going the speed limit. Rossi says he is scared when Marquez is around him, so then why didn't he move out of the way.
I don't agree with Marquez's choices, but I think he is way too fast. When Rossi leaves he will take his place as MotoGP's poster boy, as long as he doesn't die in a track incident.

We wouldn't even be discussing this if it weren't for his bike stalling on the grid, we would be talking about how badly he beat everyone else.

Correct.

Start at the back of the grid in addition to the existing 30 second penalty sounds about right.

Thats not what I said, nor is it fair in comparison to Rossi's outcome in Sepang 2015. If you want him to start from the back of the grid in Austin, remove the 30 second penalty and give him back his 5th place finish points.

As a Dovi fan, nothing would please me more than seeing Marquez at the back of the grid in Austin. But the penalty's been given. Time to move on

Anyone who has ever raced would know why you don’t just move out of the way.

As for IFs... well his bike did stall.. and he did clatter into AE, then punted VR off the track, and this is after numerous other close-call incidents over the weekend. It looks as though 2013 MM has come back.

I didn’t like his riding back then... didn’t like him during his quarrel with VR.. but I did warm up to him a bit through 2017 when he put his head down and didn’t ride like an idiot... now I don’t like him again.

I don’t question his talent, if he stays healthy he will beat Rossi’s championship statistics, but his riding antics as of late have no place in motoGP.

You could make MM start from the bleachers at COTA, doesn’t matter he owns everyone at that track...will still win.

Nice moves Rammy! showing his true colors... No doubt he's fast and has gobs of talent but that sh&t is just ridiculous, dangerous and should not be tolerated. All those passes could have waited one or two more corners and been completed cleanly.
The penalty to MM was appropriate, but not far enough IMO. He should be put on "probation" for the next 5 races. Any similar aggressive riding incident should be dealt with by a full round suspension from competition.

This ain't CRASHCAR (NASCAR) where PIT maneuvers are an acceptable substitute for lack of speed or talent.

As for the start, well I've been involved in enough CSBK rain starts/delays so no comment there....

I agree with probation. One more bonehead move and he sits out the next round.

I also agree with race directions decision to delay the start. It sucks for Miller, but given the circumstances I think it was an appropriate response.
