MotoGP 2014

No surprise there. They weren't going to give away MM and Dani is a perpetual #2, so that ties up the a couple of the top spots.

I agree, they don't need anyone trying to prove themselves and crash against MM - Plus I hate to say it but Pedrosa is riding well and always has, he just won't ever won a championship unless something weird happens

Dani...the best rider to never win a championship. (at their premier level)

I think Haga is in that boat too..."was" anyways.

So, from the big 4, is Lorenzo the only one who hasn't had his contract renewed yet, or I missed the news? Personally, I'd like to see Aleix on a factory Yamaha. Also, did Suzuki officially sign up someone already?

Started negotiations with Yamaha back in April, I haven't found or seen anything since about his contract talks. Rumours were HRC were going to make a play for him, but that's out I believe. Also, Ducati was pushing for a big money offer for 2015.

he wants to be with Yamaha, Yamaha wants to be with him, but Yamaha doesn't want to pay what he is asking for.... from an interview in Motogp.com

Slightly off topic but where would one find MotoGP clothing aside from ordering it from the MotoGP website? Is there anywhere local?

Where's all the Yamaha gear? Wow, f me :(

Thats nothing...put "triumph" in as a search item in apparel and it's a whole different kettle of fish.

edit....just put "yamaha shirt" as a search item...there's a few pit shirts there.

Ducati needs to throw more of that big money behind the drawing board instead of behind the handlebars.

Even Rossi couldn't make the red donkey go fast.

As for JLo, he's really hurt his negotiating power with his poor performance this season. He should tuck his tail in between his legs and humbly accept any offer Yamaha gives him. The Honda dominance is not going to last forever and when Yamaha comes back with a more competitive package, he'll be in a better position to give us the 2013 Season races that were so thrilling to watch.

Agreed. The Duc team should just scrap everything and start from scratch, nothing seems to be working, apart from consistently being middle of the pack.

lol at Red Donkey.

My understanding is that next year's bike is designed from the ground up and not a patch like the last few seasons. That was Dall'Igna's primary task he set out to do when he was brought in.

Honda dominance is a myth. I wish people would stop saying it's the bike. They've only won 3 championships since '04.

Honda has a slight tech advantage right now, but Yamaha has slowly started closing the gap. Yamaha finally got it's seamless gearbox, and in 2016 everyone will be running the same ecu so their software advantage will be gone. That would leave the pneumatic valves as the only superior tech that Honda has over everyone else

You can't just look at a simple stat like which rider won the championship each year.

The 2012 season was a blip, which saw Lorenzo eek out the championship by 18 points over Pedrosa, but more tellingly, by 100 points over Stoner who missed 5 races that season due to injury and came in 3rd anyway. That year, the Honda was definitely dominant and I feel Stoner would have won 2012 had he not been injured.

That would have put a Honda on the top step in the rider's championship the last 3 years... 4 if you include the way this season is shaping up. Definitely a dominance after the Yamaha reign of '08-'10.
