Mosport renovations

There is a big gravel trap in one. But one is not the big problem. It surely wrecks bikes and most come back in the front end loader. But in my opinion,,4,7,12B,13,15 and 20 have higher rates of injuries per crash then one. One is way safer then 4 at Mosport and nobody really recognizes that.
absolutely. If all of these corners had real sand traps racing at bogie wouldn't be an issue. As for mosport there are several dangerous corners. In the early 80s a racer got stuck bewteen the upper and lower armco barriers in corner 1. Its better now but not great. Little run off in most of the corners. If it got improved to FIM standards life would be great

In the mid 80"s I got up ON the curb exiting ten,,, and dragged my knee on the guard rail! What you want you will never see. Trust me it's tons better now! NO, it's not right. But all tracks in Canada base their income on cars. Bikes are second and by then there is no money left. But if there are no cars there is still no money And Bogie,,, why worry about racing bikes when you are booked nearly every weekend? Tracks in Canada spend money to suit cars. When the car market falls and they pick up bikes it is only to tide things over. Sad,, but true. Thus the reason we have the Canadian Rider Safety Fund,,,,because we will have to look after ourselves!

I can see why this was done, but i don't know how to feel about it.I really think the days of mc trackdays at Mosport are numbered. The only thing missing from the new T2,is the new left T3 and left T4

Paulo Coehlo likely wouldn't have broken his neck either.

Alex...

I would think its a good thing......if you go wide you brake and come back on.

Looks like enough space to bring it upright and take the speed down... Hopefully it is not too covered with crap like marbles, sand (from rain runoff etc) That will make it dangerous IMO

I think it is much better than the grass. When you visit Mosport you always see many ominous sets of wheel marks that start at T2, go straight through the grass and end at the wall. Having it paved will give a significant number of those people the chance to stop and / or steer before they run out of room. Even covered in marbles it will give better traction than grass.

It's nice but sand would be better for us.

From the pictures, it looks like they've paved right out to the edge of two? Or am I looking at them wrong?

You won"t see sand or gravel much any more around the world. Cars hate it and it casues yellow flag delays.
The grass casues cars to increase the distance they need to stop as it has less resistance especially if wet.
Pavement allows a car to run off, spin out and re enter with nothing more then a local yellow.
The problem with pavement is it makes the corner less intimidating. So for cars and bikes guys will try more in that corner.
Where as before they would be a bit more conservative. The problem for bikes is,like I said before you use the run off to save yourself.
If the run off is not swept or blown it is just as dangerouse and you would be prone to tucking the front.
It will save a lot of smaller crashes and reduce the risk in some cases. But if you get outside the first lane of pavement you may be at as
much risk and going faster then ever if it is not cleaned.
Mosport over the last 30 years has had it's cycles. Two years ago when the car industry was in the toilet we had more track days there then ever before.
Then the car industry picks up, new owners,,,screw the bikes,,less days,,,then the car industry fades, more bikes and so on and so on. I expect you will see a reduction in bike days at Mosport for at least two years. But from a promoter perspective more days is not allways better. With the costs of Mosport and the $7000 haybale ticket,, if they don"t sell out the income is slim. So sometimes the bike industry suits less days. So get to the show and Book your Pro 6 days. The more they sell out the better chance you have of another day next year.

I'm not sure John, but it looks like they're almost turning the Turn 2 run-off into a ramp, from the pictures that I've seen. I should see if I can take a drive out that way during the Christmas break.

Rob, I think you are right and that really makes me nervous.

I would also expect them to cut an outside curb into the actual track edge. That is usually is how they define the track edge. If they use their typical red/white paint which is usually tremclad high gloss,,,,, need I say more?

Looks to me like they put down enough pavement OFF the track to completely repave the entire track :lmao: :(
