Moral dilema

oh and i'm sure this person attempted to kill your dog because they woke up that morning and thought to themselves "hey i haven't murdered any ones beloved canine pet lately, thats my goal for the day." Didn't you mention your dog goes ape-**** at any one walking near you or your vehicle (I assume the same holds true for your house as well)... and you've mentioned in previous posts your dogs attacked and bit people before.

again, more to these two stories than posted. What happened with the dog? Did you call the police? How did you damage their car? How was the $800 damage estimate arrived upon?

Is this just 2 neighbours with personality conflicts or what?

Well then I guess the only logical thing to do here is.....

Yeah, more deets are needed on both stories here. Otherwise this does feel like a display of histrionics.

Please leave my social ineptitude out of this, my e-ego is far too fragile.

On a side note - you post on a public message board asking for opinions - you can't cry to mama if the opinions offered don't always side with you. My opinion is that posting half a story and asking for moral direction from a bunch of people who have no connection or tie and have no other information than the few biased sentences posted says enough about the author in the first place.

I really don't think you understood what I wrote. In any case, I don't see anyone crying here but I am pointing out the utter uselessness of comments like yours. You assume way too much about people's motivations based on, as you say, half a story. Follow your own advice and wait until you have all the facts before judging someone. If and until then, how about making your post useful and actually answering the OP's question which is 'what would you do in such a scenario'?

But in the interest of keeping the peace - two wrongs don't make a right. You smash someones propertly, inadvertently or not, you are LEGALLY OBLIGATED to have the damage repaired. Doesn't mean you need to get soaked in the process though.

I completely agree that two wrongs don't make a right. I'm surprised that someone with your attitude gets this! kidding... peace peace...

Cue the internet white knights to the rescue! Maybe she'll pm you a titty pic if you do an EXTRA good job of defending her honour.

I guess my disclaimer was ineffective . Trust me, Red doesn't need any rescuing. Thought a titty pic would still be nice! This is just me, I like to debate and I like to be mostly civil about it. In this case I was just slightly annoyed by your comment and the typicality of it among internet tough guys whether that's you or not.

If you inadvertently were the cause of damage to a persons car (could be buffed out, not a great car or anything) and this same person at one point had tried to run over your dog purposefully and admittedly, would you pay them the insane $800 they demand or would you tell them karma is a *****?

1) Define inadvertant. Could you be charged with hit and run or would the dog almost hitter have to waste a lot of time chasing you.
2) They can demand anything they want but they get market price.

If I had money to burn I would have the best paint shop in the world re-paint the offended panel with the finest materials and labour. Then the rest of the car would look like crap.

Okay fine. I will spill it. I was thinking I shouldn't because it involves admitting fault to an accident and posting it on line...could be used against me in a law suit but I am pretty sure I'm safe.

First of all, dudes my cousin, much older, dead beat, partially estranged and slightly wacko cousin. I backed out of my parents drive way and he had parked behind me and I didn't notice that he had and my back bumper ran along his back bumper. I got out and checked the damage and yeah I felt like a ****ing moron, but I have had my car ran into in the same fashion in the same driveway several times with the same looking damage and my brother in law buffed it out in 2minutes. The guy I hit is a menace on the road, brags about purposefully hitting other cars when they cut him off on the highway, drug abuser, stiffed my parents for a years rent when he lived there because he lost his job, has threatened me and my family on numerous occasions, abuses unemployment, the list goes on.

The dog thing happened last summer. My dog is a bit mental (terrier) and this cousin of mine would fly up the driveway like it was a race track and so whenever we would hear his car we would run out of the house and make sure no kids or animals were in the way. One day my dog was in the middle of the driveway. I ran out and called my dog, she limps from cruciate surgery and he sped up and veered towards her missing her by inches. I ripped him a new one when he got out of the car and he said basically too bad, if the dog is too stupid it doesn't deserve to live. Actually I am pretty sure I threatened to hit him with my car, oops.

He tells me he got a quote for the damage and he wants $800. By the way, he does body work and re builds cars from scratch.

I am just so ****** at this ****! Such a long history of crap. And now he is obviously being a dick about it. My natural instincts are to just do what is right, which regardless of how much a ****** someone is you pay for what you did. And it is not about the money. But I am fighting this urge tooth and nail :(

...you too

Wow... Well, despite what's fair and what's not... if you do decide to say "too bad" to this guy, you have to weigh the likelihood of coming out one morning/evening to 4 slashed tires, smashed windows, keyed car, etc.
Certainly doesn't sound like the type of person you want to engage in this kind of war with, as it definitely has the potential to spiral out of control fast. A stitch in time saves nine, etc.

I read thru this post and all I remember is "titty"

My question is where is the damn titty???

You could end wars with a little bit of boobie flashing...lifes problems seem to disappear when theres some skin being shown.

OK, set him on fire then.

Tell him to call insurance. **** it. Don't say anything stupid. Don't show emotion. Tell him to report it to insurance and have it fixed.

Or go on Jerry and white trash it out....
