Money = Success? Moved from Pannon Thread

Re: Thank you all - shop closing - pannon moto sports inc.

Money absolutely equals success. And this myth that money doesn't equal happiness also needs to be put to rest. We live in a world where the more money you have means the more freedom you have. The more freedom you have the happier you are.

+1 So true.

Re: Thank you all - shop closing - pannon moto sports inc.

I'm convinced that a lot of people are unhappy, regardless of their level of income, because they feel powerless or insecure in their current position and can't seem to stop focusing on the things they don't have.

Success in my mind is having reached a goal that you previously set out for yourself. In that sense, real success is deliberate and something that needs to be worked towards with focus and discipline. Success doesn't just happen by accident.

Sure some people make a crap load of money by accident, but money finds it's own level. If those people are stupid, they'll be poor and miserable again in no time. I know of people who work constantly. Sure they make a lot of money, and by all accounts they should be fairly happy, but often times they just use that extra cash to busy themselves so that they don't have to face any downtime and come to the realization that their lives suck.

Asking whether money = success is so difficult because success and happiness go hand in hand, and happiness varies from person to person. I do feel, however, that financial stability is a key to real success. How can you focus on being happy and content if you're constantly struggling with your finances?

So long story short: does money = happiness? Well...no, probably not....but it sure as hell doesn't hurt the cause either.

Re: Thank you all - shop closing - pannon moto sports inc.

You've hit the nail on the head kiddo! There are many people out there who are just consumed by making more and more money. They gain all that money only to see things of inestimable value slip away from them (family, friends, etc.) From my experience, the more you make, the more you spend and you are never really better off. Now that you have written all these amazing truths, the question has to be asked... why are you working so much?

To the gentleman who owns Pannon Motorsports... I salute you for putting family ahead of money. From all I have read, you have a great passion for all things motorcycle, so it must have been a tough decision to make, but I think you will discover that it was the right choice. All the best to you in your future endeavors.

Success never equals money and money never equals happiness.
There are multi-millionaires that are very established but they have the world on their shoulders and are facing tons of problems everyday.
I find that the happiest people are the ones living a simple, fulfilled life.
They don't care to own a Ferrari, they're happy with their Honda Civic.
They don't care to have a million in the bank as long as they can make ends meet.
Being successful is not based on how much money you make, but how well balanced your life is, family, friends, career etc...

Ask me how I know!
I work 7 days a week, 6 out of 7 days are 10-12 hour shifts, Sunday being the shortest day of only 5 hours.
I am young, I am hungry and I want to make it. I want to be a millionaire. I want to own a nice house, I want to own a Lamborghini, I want to establish the life of my family and seeds before they're even born, so they don't have to go through what I have gone or will go through.

I am 25 years old and I am doing extremely well (career wise), but at what cost?
I have lost touch with many friends because my job consumes most of my time.
I have no social life because of it. I go to work, come home, see my girl, ride my bike and call it a day...
I don't mind working my butt off now to be well off in the future and I'm no where near being a millionaire but if my life is going to be like this forever, then f*** it, I don't want it.

In my eyes, money does not equal happiness and it never will.
Yes, you can buy nice things, you don't have to think about a budget and limit yourself but to what extent?...
Money makes the world go round but it does not make me... I make it!

Re: Thank you all - shop closing - pannon moto sports inc.

Wait till you have no money to feed those kids, no money to buy them clothes, no money to send them to the best schools, no money to get them the best medical care when they are sick. Your view of the world will change.

My 14 yr old son is home schooled and has his own paper route. ;)

You must have failed english comprehension.

Money does not guarantee happiness, but it still somehow equals happiness? Really?

Ok I guess I will have to go the ESL route.

Step1) NOTHING IN THIS WORLD IS GUARANTEED...ergo (that means there for) saying that Money does not guarantee happiness is a moot (which means meaningless) point.

Step 2) Having a lot of money means you have the access and opportunity to things such as better health care, better education, better housing, more opportunity to indulge in hobbies or personal enthusiasms. This means your life is better than someone's who doesnt have access to the things you do.

Go down to the local soup kitchen and ask them how many of them are happy and wouldn't trade their life for a millionaires.

Being the youngest of 8 with all my siblings working/living mediocre jobs/lives my parents always wanted me to be successful.
The curse that comes with being Egyptian, is that my parents have always wanted me to be a lawyer, doctor, pharmacist, engineer, etc...
School wasn't for me, I went to college to try and make it happen but it just didn't work.

I always wanted to be rich because my whole life growing up in Egypt we were poor.
The poor in Egypt is very poor, not like here where you have things like government housing, free healthcare, welfare, etc...
Naturally, one wants what one can't have and I always wanted to be a millionaire.
I've been at my current job since I was 21 and every year I make more money than the year before. Considerably more.
I have found a career where there is always room to grow and grow and grow... and I'm not giving that chance up.
There are many successful people who never had a post secondary education and I swore to myself that I would be successful to prove to my parents that I will make it. Not just for me but for all of us. I know I will make it.

I am paying for it but I certainly hope that the price is worth it, we'll see how it all unfolds.

Financial success does not equal happiness. What good is that $100k+ if you are divorced and your kids hate you? What good is that 100k+ if you don't do anything but work? Sure you can afford a nice house and cars, but what is the real point?

Btw, I know successful people that don't work 60 hour weeks.
100k these days ain't that much dude, after taxes and deductions you lucky if you clear 60k.

Tell you for experience, the more you have the more you spend, add a couple of expensive hobbies, a gf and the other one and you are broke :-)

Seems that its you who is having issues understanding.

If the poor arnt happy, that still doesnt mean all the rich are.

Money cant buy you everything in life, it can buy a lot of things, but not everything.

Re: Thank you all - shop closing - pannon moto sports inc.

Hate to burst your bubble but beginning teachers who are just starting out now are making $48000/yr...not to mention, they work a lot more that what most people think...as a teacher myself, I am usually at school for 7 am and don't generally leave before 5 or 5:30...and then there are the times when we stay until 8 pm like last night for meet the teacher night, and then don't forget about all those report cards we have to write (which by the way, generally take anywhere from 3-4 weeks to do)...and oh, the behaviours, and kids with ADHD, ADD, Autism and any other of a multitude of special needs that require individual attention...I LOVE my job, but get disappointed when I hear/see comments like these...please join a teacher for a day, and then make that comment...
My fiance is a teacher, I couldn't work as hard as she does, many times she leaves home at 7am, gets home at 8 and continues to work until 12am. She however cares for her kids and stays after class to help them, unfortunately there are many teachers that are in the wrong profession. I know what you guys go through dude, I couldn't do it dude.
