If you wore a smart watch instead of your fancy mechanical beasts, the watch could locate the phone.dont care where the wife is when she's not here , but I do miss not being able to have her call me in the house, so I can hear my phone ring and figure out where I left it this time.
Apple maps on iPhone you can share location, also you can usually drop a location pin on WhatsAppIsn't there a way I can share location from my phone to hers? Me being out of cell phone range is VERY unlikely.
Indeed. I’ve tried smart watches maybe 3x now, they never did enough for me to justify the cost. That changed when I saw the newer apple watches have a feature that can detect a fall and dispatch emergency services to your locationIf you wore a smart watch instead of your fancy mechanical beasts, the watch could locate the phone.
Waze also lets you share your location. I've tried it before but never been on the receiving end so I don't know how well it works. If I am on the road, waze is normally open.Apple maps on iPhone you can share location, also you can usually drop a location pin on WhatsApp
I have used a garmin instinct for the past few years. Looks substantially like a G-shock. No stupid touch screen, it uses real buttons. Battery lasts weeks if you don't use GPS (tracking HR, sleep, steps, activity minutes, etc), approximately 8 hours of GPS on. Can track swimming (pool and open water), skiing, rowing, kayaking, running, SUP, riding, etc. I don't know if I could wear a watch that had to be charged nightly. I want it on my wrist if I wake up and want to know what time it is. No automatic crash detection or anyway to call for help from the watch.Indeed. Would it be enough to say "I'm going with John and we're headed to the Kawartha"?I was talking about work related incidents...but sure...I'll update the discussion with the wife!
'Ya hun, anything happens to me go after @Evoex and @danp'
'who are they?'
'I dunno, just some randos. I'm sure they'd never leave me on the side of the road'
She was actually pretty upset last time I went for a long ride as 'I have no clue where you went, who you're with, and if something happened where would I point the cops to start looking?'
They're valid points.
If you're with a group it's a little better (ideally you exchanged numbers for so's prior to the adventure) as someone will be in touch if you need help. I am normally wandering alone. It will be quite a while before I am "missing" and a hell of a lot longer to find me as I normally wander instead of a defined route.Would it be enough to say "I'm going with John and we're headed to the Kawartha"?
In August four of us did a week long jaunt chasing gravel from Sudbury to Timmins. I told the Squeeze we'd be in the area somewhere between Sudbury and Timmins and I'd be home in 7-9 days depending how things went.
The only way she knew where we had been was to follow my credit charges thru online banking. This might not work for everyone.
I could charge this every 2 days if I felt like it. I don’t wear it at night as I typically sleep like a log, but I’ve noticed my trips to the bathroom around 3am have increased. F me, is this what I have to look forward to?Thank Jesus I can still fall asleep in a minute.I have used a garmin instinct for the past few years. Looks substantially like a G-shock. I did not know this. Could be handy in an accident for sure.Indeed. I’ve tried smart watches maybe 3x now, they never did enough for me to justify the cost. That changed when I saw the newer apple watches have a feature that can detect a fall and dispatch emergency services to your location
I’m typically riding solo unless it’s with a small group from here. Have never exchanged numbers for SO/Emergency contact but will on the next ride.If you're with a group it's a little better (ideally you exchanged numbers for so's prior to the adventure) as someone will be in touch if you need help. indeed, since I mostly ride solo it was worth it to me.I did not know this. Could be handy in an accident for sure.
I've got a card in my jacket pocket with names and numbers. No need to distribute every time, just tell people where it is. If that card is destroyed, I am too and police can deal with the notification.I’m typically riding solo unless it’s with a small group from here. My Gen1 is dying anyway. May be time for an upgrade.indeed, since I mostly ride solo it was worth it to me.
Needs to be the SE or the 6/7.

Glympse is a fast, free and simple way to share your real-time location using GPS tracking, with any of your family, friends or co-workers!
Send a Glympse to let friends and family know you are on your way. Request a Glympse from a colleague who is always running late. Set up a Glympse group for your family reunion.
Those you share with can view your Glympse from any web-enabled device, no sign-up required!
I'm the same, usually ride solo. When I go for longer rides it's with a couple of close friends I have known for decades. Exchanging numbers is unnecessary because our wives all know each other.I’m typically riding solo unless it’s with a small group from here. At over 180 bpm, I do not feel well at all. Glad the watch notified him of a problem. Surprised he didn't notice the chaos occurring in his chest.Buddy’s smart watch possibly saved his life , sitting on his couch his heart rate went to 192 beats and phone detected it . He thought the phone was defective, bought a cuff meter and his heart rate was going from 65 to 200. Turns out he felt fine but had a heart condition and needed surgery , smart phone saved him. Me, I would have to sell my watches to pay the surgeon.

I can still write my name in a snowbank. Unfortunately it's in Morse code and I have a short name.I could charge this every 2 days if I felt like it.
