This is unknowable without a full trial. There's not even a video. Or was it somebody else who said we need a trial with all evidence presented to make a judgement
Who would really be better off in both the short and long runs?
Being a Muzzo means that while he can better afford a decent defence, he doesn't have the relative anonymity that an ordinary offender would have. The Crown is bending over backwards to show that Muzzo is not being treated more gently because of his family connections. That works against Muzzo.
An ordinary guy on completion of prison sentence would be able to move somewhere else where he isn't known and live under the radar, and maybe even change his name to be able to further move on with a new life. Muzzo will never be able to enjoy that kind of anonymity, and his notoriety will follow him and his name for the rest of his life. That also works against Muzzo.
I think both the crown and defense are concerned about public sentiment going against the system. Muzzo staying in jail also benefits him in the long run as he gets credit for time served and will be free of the yoke of punishment at an earlier age.
Re Muzzo being blackballed, people forget. Look at the politicians that get re-elected.

I'm curious as to what his defence will be. Its pretty well established he was hammered behind the wheel and caused this accident despite having the means to get from the airport in many safer ways. I just can't see an angle here other than mercy of the court or maybe I'm missing something.
What defence? He's going to plead guilty after arranging a plea bargain with the Crown. I would still be lookimg for 8 to 10 years on this one, less a few months credit for time served in custody pre-trial.
The way the lawyers had been pushing off dates in order to get through disclosure made it seem like they were planning or looking for a defence which is why I was asking the question.
Muzzo is taking a big roll of the dice with the guilty plea. His strategy is to man up to all charges and admit complete guilt hopefully resorting a in shorter jail sentence. I still predict after everything, he will spend a maximum of 5 years in prison.

I think with time served his total time spent in jail will be 3 yrs.
Less than a year for each murder he committed. Sometimes our Canadian justice system delivers no justice.

that would be my guess. 10 year sentence, paroled after 3.
Or... may be trying to time it so he gets a particular judge, or avoid a certain judge. Could be a number of reasons. He has a very good lawyer... that knows exactly what he is doing.

I'm thinking he gets 5 yrs, 2 for 1 time served,by time he is sentenced it will approx 6 months, therefore 12 months, then he serves 2/3 gets out on good behaviour. That scenario works out to 38 months served total.
... or simply try to maximize the amount of time spent behind bars before the trial, knowing that this counts 2 for 1. Whatever amount they delay the trial ends up coming off the total amount of time spent behind bars.
Hmm, I assume time spent in custody before trial is easier time than prison? That would make sense for him to delay sentencing. I'm still betting on the lifetime driving ban.

I doubt he will get lifetime ban, probably 5 to 10 year ban
