... or simply try to maximize the amount of time spent behind bars before the trial, knowing that this counts 2 for 1. Whatever amount they delay the trial ends up coming off the total amount of time spent behind bars.

Well if you can figure that out maybe the sentencing judge can too and will give extra time to offset that tactic. Who am I kidding, it's all a game. Richest family in all of Ontario? Let the back room shenanigans begin. Tin foil not required.

I predict a "stiff" sentence of one year of house arrest plus a two year driving ban. If he gets too long a sentence, people might stop drunk driving. That would put the cops, lawyers and liberal judges out of business and you know we just can't have that.

Drinking and driving will never cease as long as both are legal at the same time. It's an impossibility no matter how much it's drilled into peoples' heads. Simply put, drinking impairs judgement and we all do stupid things while our judgement is impaired, like getting into a car and driving. There's no getting around it.

Hmm, I assume time spent in custody before trial is easier time than prison? That would make sense for him to delay sentencing. I'm still betting on the lifetime driving ban.

Not really. If having to serve a sentence... most would probably prefer to get to the institution they'll be serving it at as soon as possible. Detention is max security with little privileges, or luxuries...

Sadly true. How many DUI's have been handed out since last September? If Muzzo's stupidity resulted in other people realizing the dangers at least the four deaths would have meant something, resulted in change.

Regarding the number of DUI's charged, how many slipped through the net and got home in one piece in spite of themselves.

More importantly how many people, when they are drunk and about to drive, think about the potential consequences or the muzzos of the past and don't drive at all.

There's so many things we can't track, unfortunately the only thing we do track or find out about is the people who get charged or killed.

If the other drivers on the road were as impaired as me would I want to be on the road with them?

OH MAN, that means if someone says something with authority it may not be true????

Say it ain't so Joe.

This means maybe the Great Wall can't be seen from the moon , Jesus wasn't born on Dec 25th, and Fornication Under Consent of King is not an acronym.

What the poop? All of these "facts" have been stated with authority. Am I to believe that some people are full of **** with their knowledge?

The horror.

So basic animal instinct for migratory reasons is the same as someone witnessing a DUI and deciding to do the same?

I knew all this, I was pointing out how stupid your response was.

Which human (humans are animals) instinct (as opposed to learned behaviour) is responsible for people doing stupid things despite having witnessed and knowing the risks associated with a given stupid activity?

They are actually illegal at the same time.

Are they? There is a law for open alcohol while driving and a law for being over 0.08, is there actually a law for drinking while driving? I guess the distracted driving law could be used.

It is perfectly legal for me to open and swig a beer at 3:30 this PM.

It is perfectly legal for me to drive my car at 3:30 this PM.

Therefore doing either at the same point in time is legal but doing both is not. I hope that is what RG implied.

From what I understand Jesus was actually born in the spring

I thought Found Under Carnal Knowledge was an old English legal term

If the Hubbel telescope was aimed at the earth from the moon the Great Wall would likely be visible if the operator wasn't spending his time looking for looking for porn.

How do these apply to RV's? Beer isn't much of an issue in that one tends to finish off a bottle of beer but hard liquor, other than the airline bottles, tends to be around for a while.

Is the closed cabinet rule for boats applied?
