Been giggling all day reading one story after another of the MAGA crowd being taken aback that people are getting identified online, fired from their jobs, and arrested. Who'd have thought that with every second person there live-streaming to the web that there would be (gasp!) evidence? These people are not the brightest bulbs in the box.
Then laughing with indignation at all the Republicans who are magically growing spines and "speaking out" against Trump (and getting their revisionist histories ready, or should we say "Alternative facts") and/or quitting their posts, getting ready for the post Trump era. Curious, that.
And oh hey look, Kraken lady is getting sued 1.3 billion. And Trump is banned on Twitter. And the Republican party is eating itself from the inside out.

And I'm led to believe that Apple has given Parler 24 hours to implement an appropriate content moderation policy, because it has been established that Wednesday's events were at least in part organised through discussion on Parler - the social-media echo chamber that the right-wingers have been flocking to after Facebook etc banned them.
I suppose a few people need to learn that freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences. Your right to swing your fist ends where your neighbor's nose begins.

At this point, it's symbolic. Right now, they just need to wall him off in the White House, disconnect the internet, throw any piece of paper he signs in the garbage, tap his phone (probably already done) and make sure anyone he calls on the phone doesn't do what he asks them to do. A lot of the more dangerous things he could ask someone to do, have probably already be taken care of - it's been confirmed that the defense department isn't going to fire off any nuclear weapons just because Trump asks them to.

But they're sure afraid he's going to do it. The whole idea seems preposterous right now, but this is the United States we're talking about.
The republicans would never again allow him to be nominated ever again.
Sure, Trump and the MAGA crowd could start a third party but that would just end up splitting the vote between MAGA and the more moderate republicans making sure neither win.
The Democrats will likely stay in power for some time to come.

I wouldn’t go that far till they are a couple yrs into Biden term
Highly doubt it. The man is such an incredible narcissist that he won't be able to do it. He's just spent the last 4 years of his life as the most powerful man in the world, the centre of attention, and the leader of MAGA. He needs the attention, and he needs the adoration and cheering of his people.
He won't be able to do it. He won't be able to just turn it all off and go quietly into the night. Unless all his legal woes do end up with him spending time in club fed, in which case, he won't have a choice.
Gonna be interesting...but I fully expect that while he's a free man he's going to continue to stir the pot and continue to yell and scream to "his people".
Doesn't change the reality of the fractured vote. Neither what's left of the republicans nor any new "MAGA Party" will ever receive enough of the vote to outweigh the democratic side.
Biden could be the most inept bumbling president ever (I personally don't think that will be the case however, he's smart, and he's also smart enough to surround himself with other smart people) and he'll still command enough of a vote in the next election to win in that scenario. And there's a decent chance he won't run again anyways but hand the reigns to Kamala or another up and comer at the next election.
Biden will have to deal with the Covid results for the first 2yrs if not longer
Plus he needs to win the maga crowd to bring peace.
It’s going to be interesting to see what strategies he will put in place.

Much like how every previous governments failings are passed to the new government to deal with, some of the complaints will stick (The MAGA crowd will stick Covid issues to Biden regardless of what happens, but then again, what portion of the MAGA crowd really take it seriously to begin with? How many masks did you see at the riots?) and a portion will always blame Trump.
I think the results in the end will be statistically irrelevant in 4 years.
