MacDoc's new ride 2018 MT03 ends with 2017 GS310 loaded mebbe?

Yeah a bit better than the Honda D'Eauville...perhaps the most boring bike I've had but I made good coin flipping it.
I do like bikes with decent names.....Vstroms a good one.
Pan European was okay from Honda. Sort of enjoyed that bike but to hot for this climate.
 
Front brake lever goes almost to the grip? Yikes! It was sold as "roadworthy". Can you back to the seller about? that
 
I think Suzuki has the best names:

Hayabusa, B-King, Gixxer, Hustler, Titan, Gamma. Tame bikes also get good names: Savage, Intruder, Marauder, Katana, VanVan, Tempter, Burgman, Bandit and ... Vstrom.

Universally known in the UK as the Dullsville. Weirdly closely related to the Hawk GT, also called NT650, but despite sharing a motor, couldn't have been more different.

That's an interesting question. If there was moisture in the fluid, I would think that could pass safety. It can brake once ok. It's repeated braking where the issue pops up. I would just flush the brake fluid. Not a bad idea anyway as it's probably seven years old.

Wondering if that was the reason for getting the big price break (brake)? Or maybe the muffler bash. Good reason to flush the hydraulics and know they are done. Does it have a hydraulic clutch or cable?

Who sells a known deathtrap to an old guy? Giving me a few hundred off doesn't help when I'm laying in a ditch. I'd have no problem buying it with fading brakes, especially when the price of a flush was subtracted from the amount I had to pay but for god sakes, tell me it needs addressed asap.

Discovered my rear brake. Front still works but fades

finding hard to find neutral going up but easier going down. Still not easy. Will adapt

Both of those can be maintained related. Air or water in brake lines can present as a fade issue. Flush, which is pushing 250ml thru the system, don’t just bleed. Fade is not a symptom of bad calliper or cylinder.

Finding gears can clean up with fresh oil and a proper clutch adjustment.

Fairly recent oil change. Have adjustable levers. Will fiddle with see if neutral improves thnx

I’d start with the service manual clutch adjustment first, then fiddle with the lever adjustments.

Make sure the fluid service is flush, not bleed. Getting air out is different than getting water out.
 
I don’t wrench at all any more and really neutral finding will come. It’s only my second ride
 
1730712451495.pngSo I have put the BMW up for sale at $5450....I have a window of 7 months before rego runs out - there is nothing further I need to do to the bike beyond the front brake.
I almost dropped the bike yesterday :eek: Glad it tipped on the titanium equipped right leg as my bone density is marginal.
I like riding the bike I don't like handling the bike at low speeds - the brake issue not helping....I might adapt to it ...but certainly won't be going off road with it. That says more about me than the bike. I think it is time I gave up on that aspect certainly with the BMW.
I got a below market deal at $4200. I did not expect it to be a 2017 which is first year ...might have shied away. A lower bike I might rethink it.
There is a 2018 listed with lower mileage but zilch farkles for $5700.
So there is some profit to be made with little downside to listing it as we are moving into the hot weather and the wet.
Maybe I'll adapt...I'm not going to lower the bike tho some have trimmed the side stand to deal with the too upright position ...that is what almost bit me yesterday.
With the wide seat and higher than the last three bikes I need the bike to lean further left if I keep it...others have taken an inch off the sidestand to accomplish the same but won't do it immediately.
I can get on and off the bike okay with the laptop bag strapped on and the tank bag is working the charm.

I've run across a guy with several of these he had for a project that did not succeed.

Comes with the Barkbusters and the windscreen plus the stock rear rack is okay.

2022 Himalayan in great condition less than 5000kms just serviced has hand guards large engine guards and front luggage bags. Perfect commuter bike that dose a great job off road. 5 months rego and will have a new RW
He is also the local service centre for them which is reassuring. A 400 thumper is a good size for me. The seat is 1.5" lower than the BMW. There are a lot of third party seats available for it as well.

Will be very interested in seeing/sitting on one tomorrow. Fickle? yeah.🍿
This reviewer has the same 30" inseam as I have.
 
Well I have a bite on selling the BMW already and the guy selling the Royal Enfield Himalayans has 5 of them so there is a little pool to draw from.
Off road bikes are much easier sells up here than road bikes and I think Royal Enfield not quite established tho there are lots of moto-vloggers riding them around Australia.
The Himalayan 411 has been discoed in 2023 but the 2022 listed for sale was well into the improved model years,

It weighs more the Honda 300, has about the same HP, more torque and more spacious plus many seat options. More range/larger tank.
I like thumpers and the Himalayans are old school but do have ABS.
Will see tomorrow how it feels. 🍿
 
So if the BMW sells and I don't like the Himalayan I can always downsize once more to a 2021 Honda 125 which weighs 120 kg - 30 less than the 300 and just barely gets to highway speed. Okay for very local riding...think it would struggle up the Gillies and the Range road but it would cash out my profits. $2k asking

It's as full sized as the Honda 300, 30 kg lighter but same seat height which was "okay" on the CB300F. I do like that it has a small tail platform, something the 300f lacked.
It's in my natural progression to lighter and smaller cc and if Brian can run around on one I'm sure I can. WIll be slow but insane fuel mileage...115 mpg according to fuelly that's like 500km on a tank !!
Prefer the single seat instead of dual.
