Looking to develop a second career

Hello all,

I'm currently bored and looking for suggestions. I've owned two small businesses for the last year and have done well in them. I'm going to be getting one or two more soon. They are almost at a point where they basically run themselves and I just need to do minor things. I won't have to spend much more than a day or two to review everything and make sure things run smooth.

I'm really bored of this and very under challenged. My goal is to find something to do full time 3-4 years from now and I want to be able to start preparing for it now part time. I've done banking and finance before and want something different. Something that requires more thought.

I don't want another 9 - 5 job. I can't stand those and would not be able to get back into it. Money isn't an issue since I will have decent cash flow from businesses at that time so I don't have to rock hard day trader who's swimming in millions. I don't mind going to school for it and definitely don't want to do any trades.

Any suggestions as to what I could do and how I would go about doing it? Realistic answers only please. I want to be Dexter but can't do that :(

I thought you were planning on retiring by 30?

well, what are your interests?

well, what are your interests?

I can pretty much adapt into anything that doesn't require me to do anything over and over. I like new things and love things that are constantly dynamic. I can't stand static environments.

Someone told me to get into competitive video gaming (esports). I thought about it but doing it would require me to sit in a chair for 10+ hrs a day which I cannot do.

...man whore.

Pretty dynamic environment, always changing. Meeting new people everyday. Also its always a conversation starter when people ask u what u do for a living.

Thank me later

Alright. But what Interests you?

you know, activities/hobbies/stuff ?

It's great you can adapt, but you still haven't stated any interests.

If it's not about money, and you're bored, what 'un-bores' you? Like riding motorcycles? maybe do guided tours?
like tinkering with stuff? then clear a space and start making/fixing new stuff?

you want dynamic? do anything where people are involved. That'll keep you on your toes.

or whatever.

But I'd like to retire by 32, so PM me your secret.

if the job market wasn't so saturated i'd say get into teaching...definitely not boring, not 9-5, no sitting around, everyday is a challenge...on the other hand if you'd be happy with supply work only and not having to work every single day, then try this out...i love it and have done a few things in the past (including finance and transportation)...pm me if you want more info...ivana

I could never teach. I had my own tutoring company in uni teaching 8-10 kids and have very little patience lol.

My hobbies and things I like to do change a lot. I love riding but doing it for a bit and I get bored I want to do something else right away.

Retiring by 32 isn't hard. Find a good cash flow business, buy it whatever way you can (loans etc...). Work 14 hrs a day 7 days a week for 2-3 yrs to increase it's value and cash flow. Pay off liabilities and feed off cash flow. Last year the average size of comparable businesses grew on average 5% or less. I was doing 13% and I was up against people who had been in the business for 20 yrs+.

It's not just work hard. You have to be smart in everything you do. I love to experience and try new things all the time. I do stupid things but I try to learn from them. Working for someone else will never get you there.

Take up cash crop farming. Not everyone can do this but if you can this hobby makes use of all different kinds of skils like plumbing, electrical, mechanical, welding, software development

Go work for a resort on the Caribbean as a Cabana Boy, best time of my life

The activity must be real for me to do it. No trades please. I can't handle those jobs. I refuse to work in cold lol. I make my employees do it.

I won't work for anyone again.

Maybe a career asking for advice on the internet, then shooting down any and all suggestions. You are quite experienced at this.

Best idea yet. He's good at that.

OP should take his troll pro and get Honda to pay him to bash other motorcycle brands.

lol I wish I was witty enough to be a troll. Actually being serious here. Someone recommended real estate agent and it makes the most sense right now.

I listen to the good ones :(

I would take your career working from home anytime of the day.

MIke works very hard every day on his cat research, it is hard to keep a bunch of clubhouse people entertained

Make your people/employees think up a new career for you...threaten them until they come up with ideas...but shoot them all down and fire them...this is dynamic and exciting.

Go travel, dude. Enjoy the money that you're making. You're like me, so it might be hard to see the value in spending money that way, but it really has been worth it. Every day can make for an amazing story and you can just head to another city/country when you get bored.

Failing that, you could get into marketing. You get different companies to work with all the time and even when you move up, you're still doing site visits and are on-field a lot. Each campaign can be so different so you're always learning something new. Also, almost all of your co-workers will be attractive.

If it's not about the money, then just find something that you legitimately enjoy...even if it's just volunteering somewhere. But wouldn't you also be bored if you retired at 32? Btw, are you still looking into opening a bar?
