That would be much more effective than a license suspension.Tarring and feathering might also work.
Well that’s a whole lotta nothing.Ontario is proposing license implications for most car thieves. While it sounds good on paper, if potential criminal charges aren't a deterrent, I don't see license suspension having a big effect. Also, aren't a lot of the thieves coming from Montreal? Can we get a qc license suspended?
Suspended license and alpr means that car thieves basically can't own a car as they will constantly be getting pulled over.

Laws being written by people that are hopelessly out of touch or out of ideas and want to present the optics that they are doing something to keep their jobs might be more accurate IMO.It is an example of laws being written by people that do not understand the motivation of the people they want to apply them to, and then thinking it is some kind of deterrent to their motivation.
Well off white dude, it would really suck and it will have a huge life impact losing my license for 10 years. So that will straighten them thieves out.
People stealing cars, I don't need no stinking license to steal cars and I can't even fathom the future consequences.
Exactly. If they don’t care if they kill you to steal your car are they going to worry about a slip of paper. It is an example of laws being written by people that do not understand the motivation of the people they want to apply them to, and then thinking it is some kind of deterrent to their motivation.

Don't forget it only happens if you carjack someone if you just take it when it is parked no problem.Well that’s a whole lotta nothing.
Next up, banning crime.
Not most only carjackers if you didn't assault somewhen stealing their car it's still ok.Ontario is proposing license implications for most car thieves. Or if you profit from a stolen vehicle. This seems to catch most thefts beyond joyride but you don't hear about many of those anymore.Don't forget it only happens if you carjack someone if you just take it when it is parked no problem.

Pass the buck. Paraphrased "It is the fault of local and provincial police forces for not feeding feds enough information. We completely reject any effort to improve general port operations but are happy to investigate specific containers of interest."
Do we even have to watch this to know it's baloney?
More importantly...all of those arrested and charged are back out on the street in their communities."out of 26 suspects, 14 were already out on bail due to prior auto theft related charges" The money made on these crimes far outweighs the punishment/jailtime they MAY (highly doubtful) get a few years from now.

As a minimum, bail should come with an ankle bracelet. Even if you don't have curfew or location constraints, you get tracked. Mess with the tracker and you can wait in jail for your trial. If I was falsely accused and granted bail, I have no issue with tracking as I'm not committing criminal acts.More importantly...all of those arrested and charged are back out on the street in their communities.
It's a F$@#ng joke now. Zero consequences. Oooooo.....a criminal record...guess I'll need to steal more.
Joke.

Would also be handy to compare their time and location to the time and location of stolen cars....As a minimum, bail should come with an ankle bracelet. At the very least corporal punishment. If you got a solid beating after every conviction that may discourage you.^ You said it ... I'd vote for a return to capital punishment!
I just got a message from him. He’s presently installing a system in some new country in Asia. He says smuggling guns in car gas tanks is common. He didn’t say but picking up small stuff might be hard. A car would be easier. No mention of more coming hereI'll try to get some info on the scanners. A half brother works with them in Asia.
