I'm partial to the original Stingray '63-'67 myself.

Now that's what I am talking about! But I really do like the C7 it looks fantastic...and as for the NSX meh! I would rather have the Skyline GTR over it if I were to choose a Japanese Vehicle!

Old friend of mine found this in a barn, somewhere in Kentucky in '69 or '70. Only had ~4500 miles on it - all paperwork / build sheet etc.
He's owned it ever since. (frame off resto a couple times)
I like the way GM (somewhat) incorperated the grill on the '14, to the '56 (sorry SunnyS).
This pic is fairly recent. (vanity plate 056 was taken - he had to settle for 560)
It can usually be seen at Mapleview Mall on old car nights in the summer.

My grandpa had one of these, only the colours were reversed. I can remember being about 6 and going out for a cruise with him... Even at a young age I thought that car was awesome.

No need to apologize. I absolutely love the old vettes and Z28s, and GTO's and my personal dream fave when I was growing up, the Buick Regal Grand National, esp the limited edition GNX.

Around 82-84 is when GMs downward spiral (some would argue it started in the 70s and I won't totally disagree), with the new Z in 82, and the Vette in 84.

Watched on Speed TV last night Bob Ackerson's Vette go for $270,000 on the auction block.

Sweet looking car

Hendrick also bought (and paid a huge premium for) the 1st 2014 Corvette yesterday - VIN ending "0001".

IMO, the downward spiral started much earlier - the catalytic converter being the crucifier.
Sadly - it was almost too rare to see a GNX - nice ride tho.
My fav's are still the '69 - '70 442 / W30 (31). I must have owned a dozen 69/70 Cutlass', but never a 442 :-(

I got an ins quote for a '13 Vette a while ago. Was going to be a bit less than my F150 (which is cheap to insure).
If the '14 Vette is just as reasonable to insure - I'll be on the waiting list for one in grey. I really like what they've done to it - even the looks of rear end is growing on me.

Even earlier than that. American cars were crap from the end of WWII. The manufacturers approached design with one simple philosphical perspective; bigger. It's an indication of the sickness that was the US mindset at that time, that they managed to be successful for a few decades before reality caught up to them.

The golden era of American cars is now. Hell, even the Cruze and Fiesta are great cars.

LMAO.......please.........for me, it's too early in the day for that kind of belly laugh. (Cruze & Fiesta = great cars.........LOLOLOLOLOLOL)

Re: "bigger". If the big 3 had a crystal ball, and could predict that a gallon of gas was going to increase from 25 cents a gallon, to $5 a gallon, they would have not chosen to build luxurious land barges in every line they produced.

The golden era is long gone - it is NOT now. What you're witness to now, is the demise of the internal combustion engine.
Electric, solar vehicles (and whatever else they dream up) are the future. In a way I'm glad I won't be around to see it.

p.s. I still can't stop laughing, after reading the Fiesta is a 'great' car.........LOL.

Double lol. The Cruze... :lmao:

:laughing3:

Gotta bug my cousins husband Eric (brother of the late voice of city tv Mark Daly) about the new stingray. At one point in time he had 5 vettes. The oldest was a 1953 that he did a ground up restoration on.He bought it in the states for a few hundred and sold it to GM.Last i heard it was in the Oshawa museum.Had a ride around the block in it many years ago.Cool car.
If he buys a 2014,maybe i'll get a ride in it.

A friend of a friend had a '66 Stingray convertible. Everybody wanted to be his friend for the car. (also because he had killer weed) In those days that seemed normal. We're more enlightened now. Gays are cool. Nobody smokes fags anymore and cars are better. Do NOT under estimate the Cruze.

Tried out several rental cars over the last few years. I can't believe I'm saying this but the Sonata and the Cruze were the two best of the bunch and the Corolla was the worst with a bullet (and then some, ghawd it was awful). I made a point of choosing different cars when possible, just to try them out for our next update due this coming fall.

The current Ford Focus is surprisingly pleasant on a long trip, too. I've got a business trip down south coming up in a couple weeks (ya, I know, cry me a river), and a Focus will do just fine.

But it's not a competitor to a Corvette ...
