Lightcycle's New Ride

The seat height doesn't bother me. My other ride has a 38" seat height, so 34" is relatively low for me.

I did try to play around with the suspension today. The bike has an auto-levelling feature that "detects" the weight on the rear, ie. passenger, luggage, etc, and automatically adjusts the pre-load to compensate. No more knobs to turn.

However, I couldn't take it off auto and max the pre-load to see if it drops the ride height. Was trying to do this at a stoplight, maybe the engine needs to be off?

Need to pore over the owners manual more.

I thought I was done with studying after university...
to adjust preload engine has to be on fo sho!

Bites tongue and doesn't make the joke.

awesome gene!

I envy the day that I replace a bike because I wore out the old ones like most wear out running shoes.

:)

if you decide not to spring for the OEM navigation, grab one of these.

i love it.

Not really a fan of phone GPSes.

I've been doing a lot of reading and the BMW Nav VI seems to have a lot of problems with "ghost touching" - over-sensitive touch screen.

So I decided to go a different way:

awesome bike! What mods do you have planned for it?

The usual:

- GPS (see above) with locking mount
- lugggage (3 box system + tankbag)
- sidestand enlarger
- headlight protector
- TFT screen protector
- shorty levers
- some kind of fuse panel for adding additional electric devices. This one looks good: HEX ezCAN – All things ezCAN it's configurable via SW on your PC, but seems to have reliability problems. Have to do more research

I want to make it look more like a dirt-bike, so I have a small fly-screen on order as well as a one-piece Rallye seat. Soft tailbag for day rides instead of the big metal topcase.

After I wear out the tires, I want to replace them with some 50/50s. Maybe TKC80s. They came standard on my EXC 500, I really like the way they perform on and off-road.

How many more kms until the redline moves up?
It’s a feature on all the BMW bikes with the new TFT displays. As the engine warms up the redline will slowly move up the rpms. It’s not a limiter, you can rev into the red but the screen won’t be happy with you.

pic was probably taken with the engine stone cold.

Nice....and +16!!! .... come on global warming, warm up Ontario already!!

Pic was taken in my garage. It's still pretty cold here. We went up to the Coquihalla Pass yesterday. At the summit, it was -1C and we were going 120 km/h without heated gear...

How many more kms until the redline moves up?

Redline is actually at 9K RPM when warmed up. Break in was 5K RPM for the first 1000 kms, but it's a suggested limit, no rev limiter. I may have strayed above that a couple of times the last few days... LOTS of power on tap. Very happy now that I'm officially allowed to play above 5K.
