Well, ya. And how people let food get spoiled in the middle of winter is beyond me.
Exactly. Not much common sense there.

big can of worms.... my family does a lot of work with a shelter that provides numerous services. They know that there are people that use their services that have no need, but they can not challenge whether a person is or isn't in need by the way they look. Instead their belief is if the person seeks their help they will provide it as the alternative is to not help anyone. This is where the people who have challenged morals or ethics take advantage of the support networks availableThere was no compensation that I ever heard of. Just saw one of the centres that was giving out the cars, on the news. They made a big deal about a SUV load of well off people who pulled up and tried to get cards, but there were none left.
Going to Norway was an eye opening experience. It was very interesting being in a country, a socialist country at that, with a government that seems to know what it's doing and puts the people first (not it's own best interests).
I am not against socialist ideas. However, I am fully convinced that our government, no matter which party, is utterly incapable of doing anything right.
Fascinating article on the coming energy boom, how it risks to compromise political effectiveness, and how Norway avoided the problem.
