Lets see your track/race videos!

You had people on the sidelines cheering you on, nice. Not too far from the track, though... GB might want to get a control on that...!

Race officials allow certain people to stand near the start/finish line to give gap signals to racers.

OK... but shouldn't there be some sort of protective barrier? Even TMP has one, and my opinion of TMP in general is well represented. :)

It just looked pretty risky by Canadian standards.

Shaman, not sure if you have ever done a lap at GB but you are going hard left on that corner, the laws of gravity have to be broken before anyone can make it to where the scorers are locate on the left.

It's like asking to put a barrier on the inside of turn 6 at TMP, or in the left side of turn 2 at Mosport... etc

No I haven't been there. However things happen all the time that nobody expects to be possible. I'm just commenting that I don't see that often, especially in Canada, it's not a big thing.

It's a fair comment. there used to be a fence on the right side of that turn last year, a few people made it pretty close to the fence after low sides, this year the fence is gone - GB does a good job at listening to any feedback.

I kind of agree with Shaman on this one. It's not so much the people at start/finish that concern me, but rather the people on the grass farther down. If someone got into a tankslapper or whatever around there on the front straight the bike could go anywhere. Whenever I was in the stands on Sunday I was thinking that the spectators on the ground could be kept back a little more. It was making me nervous. As a rider on the track you certainly don't notice it.

They have that at turn 2 Mosport (assuming you mean big track). :p

Same thoughts I had on the weekend. Especially with 7-8 vehicles there at one point.

Damn they do, I guess I always go through there screaming "Ohhhh sh......" and didn't notice but regardless the point is that it is most likely there not to protect spectators from cars or bikes but for crowd control i guess.

I never really thought of it that way before. you should talk to ken he will take car of it for next round

I rather have no protective barrier/wall to crash into.

Okay, just sent Ken a friendly note expressing the concern (and thanking him for a great weekend).

I rather have no protective barrier/wall to crash into.

It's not a normal impact zone. Riders wouldn't be sliding in there with any regularity. But a freak accident that took out a spectator or two could end the fun for all of us, permanently.

Yeah, but you're supposed to be in control of the bike, whereas spectators are the innocents in a scenario where the bike flings at them.

PS... cars quite often go the opposite way you'd expect them to and end up on the inside of corners, when they go sideways and then forward into the infield. I've been on the inside of the corner off the long straight of Shannonville several times, both in my car and as an instructor. It's awesome in Spring Fling when the mud is two feet deep... lol

Move the spectators, no need for walls.

I saw Ken move people back a few times that were getting pretty close to the run off on the first straight at the beginning of T1 which was good but then 5 minutes later there were a few cars that parked there. Chances are a rider would not run off to where the car was but stranger things could happen.

I like that there aren't any walls and would also just rather have the spectators moved rather than a wall being put somewhere. Also if a wall was put near the start finish line (track going forward) it would be right in the impact zone of running reverse.

Jayv doesn't believe in the laws of gravity.

Yes it is certainly possible for an out-of-control bike to go towards spectators, or camper trailers, trucks, atvs, etc.
