I rode the 1199 back to back with the Triumph at the DOCC event at Grand Bend, the Triumph by the way is just sublime....full K-Tec setup, BST rims, Proper Brembo's, Axis Iron rotors, full slicks, quick shift, PCV and Autotune, full race system, Hyperpro damper, YOYO slipper, anyhow after dumping the 675 I rode the 1199 well the 1199 is just a beast but its well-mannered on the track, I took 2 seconds out of my time on it compared to the Triumph...the Duc was bone stock at the time too...I did have the tyre warmers on before each session....but its way more exhausting to ride...but I'm old...lol and unfit.
Nicolas who dropped his 1199 had a slow low side and it was slow....but it was unridable after... mainly due to the right clip-on snapping off, which tore out the wiring for the throttle....no stock of parts anywhere so he was done. I actually ended up repairing Nic's bike for him after the event, it was a good way to prep my bike because I could see the weaknesses after a minor off.
In light of this I will be fitting:- Woodcraft clip-on’s Woodcraft Rearsets , (you have to love the woodcraft stuff just for the ease of repair you can replace individual components) GB Racing engine covers, Sato Frame sliders…I know the 1199 has no frame but these are the next best thing, Pazzo shorty’s, Hyperpro steering damper…the stock unit is garbage, full slicks...I going to try some 190 section slicks instead of the 200's, axle sliders front and rear, Armour bodies race body work, and some Termi’s…you always need more power right ..lol….
There was a video of a Pani going down at speed on the internet…it was completely destroyed, so unless it is a minor low-side all the above will make no difference…but that is what the dedicated Triumph is for……plus the 675 is way easier on my old body to ride all weekend….Thanks Colin.
