Let’s make things more expensive for customers…

Just in time for winter... awesome. Then when we all see enbridge and friends with record profits in 6 months time we can be happy inflation didn't effect them.
Too late for this year….but I think I’m going to do the insulation inside the house next year.

Need to add new insulation around some doors and ensure that all windows are properly sealed.

These doors let tons of heat out and cold in…

I have double sliding glass doors out onto the deck. You can stand a foot from them in the winter and the temperature difference is barely noticable. This time of year when I start closing both of them is amusing. It takes the dog a few days to realize the outside one is now closed when I open the inside one to let her out. BONK.

Yeah glad our gov is working tirelessly to help with inflation. Oh wait they are with just moving interest rates. But there is energy costs, food, and all the other stuff we use every month...somehow those things don't matter?

Didn't the US bring in some sort of inflation legislation, thought I caught wind of it.

I’m Poland there were increases of 300-700% for energy costs. Coal, natural gas, gasoline/diesel and electricity were flying out of control.

Govt stepped in and froze prices at some levels for basically everyone but the largest producers. Mid/small businesses and private citizens apparently have a freeze on prices.

Out of curiosity, how many people that are complaining about inflation now were happy to receive CERB for the last two years? Just curious.

I couldn't qualify without fraud, as far as I know, so I didn't apply. Having a little regret seeing what the government said afterwards.

@adri I haven't carried cash in probably 20 years other than when we went to Spain in 2019 (and even then, it was a small amount of Euros as I got an Air Canada card that allowed me to 'carry' foreign cash on a credit card)...I've always used my debit card, but now that I have a PC Mastercard, I use that everywhere and it's amazing how fast the PC Optimum points add up for free stuff!

You guys stopped carrying cash? Why?
I used to be cash or credit but covid got me using my debit card and I've never gone backto cash. The exception being small purchases that had surcharges. Thanksgiving weekend I paid cash for a couple of nice meals and it felt weird.

Panhandlers are going to need terminals.

Wife was $500 over the threshold. She wanted to apply, I got cold feet….I regret it now.

I also don’t think CERB would cause this type of inflation. This is more (IMO) lack of actual items and people wanting it. Simple supply and demand.

Companies figured out people will pay, so here we are.

You're kidding right?

I’m only referencing the 8k given to people, not business handouts and the other programs.

I thought CERB was only for individuals that lost their hours/jobs. There was another name for businesses that got handouts and the like.

I’ve been know to be wrong a handful of times in my life.

Our new one (replaced about 3 years ago) is like that.

The old original 1980's one...you could feel the cold air leaking in on your toes 8-10 feet away.
We've now replaced every window and door in our house short of the 4 windows in our master bedroom and the difference in how our house holds energy is honestly staggering. Even with the temps in the last week or so we're still opening windows to let heat *out* in the afternoons, and not needing the furnace yet whatsoever. Before we'd have had the furnace on for weeks already this time of year.

Please explain to us simple fok how people benefiting from CERB, people who basically could not work because of restrictions, caused inflation. As far as I am concerned inflation is caused by greed. Oil patches haven't dried up, food is still being produced, wood pricing was clearly being manipulated, there was plenty of toliet paper even after hording, and gov taxes collected, and so on...

Agreed. But I’m an idiot and my simple brain understands this as more greedflation.

Supply and demand. Cheap money. And very easy to throttle supply if a company chooses to do so.

I mean record profits are announced fairly often in recent times.
