Lee Parks and Total Control are coming to Ontario

looking forward to some feedback from you guys. i want to attend next time around
Course is absolutely worth every penny.
We had 10 people with different levels of experience - from 30+ years to guy in his first season.
For me personally the whole day went really fast and only on the way home it all started to sink in and come together. Almost all aspects of riding a bike were addressed - from vision, head position to suspension how to and set up and body positioning. David and Nancy (instructors) were awesome. I liked that each student got lots of attention and plenty of practice runs. I was not able to put my knee down (despite buying brand new pucks just for the course :D) but I think I was the only one who scraped pegs times (and it was not a good thing).
I now have totally different way of thinking about my bike and my riding. Now just need to practice, practice and practice.
Almost all excercises were done in 2nd and below 40 km/h. So any slip in how you doing stuff was immediately evident. I found that practice in such conditions was actually much harder then on open roads. But now after practiing it on closed course - it is way more easy to do it in real world at much higher speeds.
Overall - big thumps up, can't wait for Level 2 on 29.
And big thank you again to Dave, Nancy, Paul, Donna and Jenerator.
Now back to sharprider.com to keep refreshing the page to see the pics :)

On a side note - I wish this course was available when I had my GS500. Guy who attended on his Ninja 250 (and it is his first season) looked like he had a blast. I do have whole new level of respect for my FZ6 but I think it would have been even more fun on a lighter bike.

Got a ****-ton of photos to re-size and look through, then will have a bunch more from tomorrow's class, so it'll take a few days. :) You'll get an email notification when they're ready for your viewing pleasure. :D

Thank you! I was the guy on blue FZ6 with smiley face pucks who according to Dave almost run you over (which I completely do not remember doing :D). But if I did - my apologies!

I'm not sure how much riding you do per day/week, but between now and the Level 2 at the end of the month you should observe a noticeable difference. Perhaps we won't see those smiley faces on your pucks anymore by then? :D

I sure hope so! I bought them just for this course! Should've bought spare set of pegs instead!
I ride a fair amount - averaging 400-600 in a good week. Problem is - I will have only about 2 weeks of riding time before July 29th but I will try my best to practice as much as I can. I am very happy that July 8 spot was sold out for Level 2 when I was signing up - would be too much for me to digest both levels in two days one after another.

I hope you sort out your 919 suspension before Level 2

Sounds like a couple of weeks should be just right then.

I took a better look tonight and re-adjusted everything and it's all where it "should" be. I'm pretty sure the fork springs are stock.

Of course now the bike will behave completely different and i'll have the ride in to Level 2 tomorrow morning to get a new feel for it. Better get up real early and warm up the course for everyone. lol

Ah well, what's the monkey without his infamous wrench, right?!?!?!?

That's great - I am sure u'll get used to it by the time you get to the HC!

Yep, two full weeks would be plenty but it will be a mix of commute and may be couple of 1/4 day rides. We'll see.

Finished the Level 2 today!

OMFG it was amaz-*falls over* Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Zzzzzzzzzzzz Zzzzzzzzz ...

To be continued ...

Completed level I yesterday. All the material covered in the course is written up in Lee Parks' book, however the overall experience is worth the cost if you are someone who learns well by example from a more experienced rider.

Although I knew in principle about throttle control/trail braking, looking throught turns and body positioning through corners, it is much easier to grasp if instructors can show you what to do. I did not realize how many things there were to consider and how many things I was doing incorrectly.

The day is well organized and gradually moves you through various exercises of increasing difficulty. The instructors Nancy and Dave are excellent at providing immediate feedback as you are going through drills at slow speed. We never got out of 2nd gear all day long, and it was at times quite difficult to execute the maneuvers required, i.e. I realized that I had a lot to learn.

Mongol777 commented that it would have been fun to do the course on a smaller bike. I had similar concerns but I am glad that I brought my own bike. The instructors work well together and were able to instill more confidence in me during this one day maneurvering at slow speeds than doing it on my own for quite some time. This was definitely one of my objectives for taking this course, and it was met.

I can highly recommend this course. Plus seeing one of the instructors - David (see pictures in rider introductions - outlaw justice) in the flesh perform crazy talented moves on a Vmax was worth the price of admission.

I am very happy too that I brought my own bike. But course made me think about getting smaller lightweight bike just for such courses and track. So in case I do drop it - I won't sweat it. I also remembered how much fun I had on cbr125 during msf course and later riding my wife's 125 and 250 on the streets.

And Chungd summed up everything perfectly - explanation how to do stuff properly and immdeiate feedback from instructors are so worth it!

finished the level 2 today!

I can't believe you did Level II today - I am so happy I have time to rest before mine!

It was amazing. It's probably a good idea to rest and practice some. The course was fantastic, and you'd probably be draggin your knee on the 29th. Slim was consistently a half inch shy of touchdown throughout the course; probably a couple of nanometeres off the ground. Quite amazing to watch at parking lot speeds.

All I can say is that it's absolutely amazing. I wasn't quite there in terms of where I wanted to be, but I'm guessing over the next couple of weeks I should be, in Daves words, "Smooooooooooooooooooooooooooooth".

You'll have a blast. Well worth the investment, in both time and money.

Thanks - can't wait for mine! And congrats on making it through both levels in 2 days!
To be honest - it is not about dragging the knee anymore for me (althouhg I'd love to wipe the smile off my new pucks), it is about smooth and self-control ove rmy entry speed (learned a lot from Dave and Nancy on Sat).
