Re: Interrogation......Turkish Police style.

Can you show us a single instance where you find fault with the accused rather than the cops in all your 92 contributions to this thread so far?

If not then you may lack a balanced perspective and fail on the credibility scale. I haven't scanned your posts, feel free to show us.

I had no idea it was a requirement in this thread to post a story about a cop rescuing a cat from a tree before you post one of a cop tasering children. My appologies.

Re: Interrogation......Turkish Police style.

I can't speak to the entire situation, as the whole confrontation is not shown, but try handling a teenager of either sex, without causing substantial injury, when that teenager is resisting with all his or her might. The Taser might well have caused LESS injury.

She put her hands up the instant he pointed the tazer at her. He didn't need to pull the trigger at that point.... granted you can not hear what she is saying... If you can't handle an unarmed 14 year girl, be it a fat one at that, without using a weapon... than you have no business being a cop. Pulling the trigger on that tazer was a cowardly move in my opinion regardless of lawful or not!

All that I can say to that, is that I'd really like to see that missing footage. Did other people get involved in the scuffle? What sort of combat did the girl engage in? That could paint a much different picture and there's a reason why it was removed.

You don't seem to realize that the logical inference of that statement is that you only find cops blemeless when they rescue a cat from a tree. You're just harming your credibility more and more.

If you have even the slightest desire to think of yourself as having a fair view of the world, you might take my constructive criticism seriously.

Regardless of the footage, it definately isn't SOP to taser an unarmed indivdual who has surrendered. I would expect that the next thing would be to ask to girl to turn around and put her hands on your head, not fire your taser...

That one is hard to justify in my mind. Not to say the officer wasn't provoked, but its a lot closer to "wrong" than "right"

I don't necessarily disagree, but there are far too many people here who think that it's trivial, to take in a suspect, without causing physical damage. Either that, or they think that the suspect should be taken in despite physical damage caused.

And, as I said, I want to see that missing footage. When the officer Tased her, there was another subject approaching. Put yourself in his place. Can he risk being exposed to potential attack, from a second suspect?

I'll freely admit that law enforcement has gone from using Tasers as a less lethal form of force, to a method of generating compliance, but I'm not sure this qualifies as such.

To be clear, I am neither. I would not expect him to be able to take her in without damage if she fights. The tazer as more of an esscalation of force than having to bend someone's arm, rash up their face a little, drive a hard knee into them... heck, I'm okay with a couple of punches to the head in a lot of cases.... Personally, I'd rather the fist beating with some damage than being tazered if I had to be arrested or assaulted by a cop(s).

If he was concerned about another attacker, than wouldn't make more sense to point the tazer at the concern then the girl with her hands up. You don't need the missing video to know if he was concerned about another at the moment of shooting... he would be paying attention to the direction of concern, looking back and fourth, etc.... The only possible reason I can agree with would depend on if and what she may have been saying, maybe shouting to rally, instructions, coordinate, etc... but again, no attention directed elsewhere by the cop during the shot or moments after.

He subdues the original suspect and then turns to deal with the other, as backup arrives. Which subject he chose to deal with was a judgment call. His judgment may have been flawed but, without being in the situation or seeing the missing footage, it's hard to say. Did the original suspect fake giving up previously? Had others tried to intervene previously? Who knows?

when a cop does their job properly it's not news (though with the amount of recorded abuse in this thread it probably should be).

Note to self: News reports get it right every time.

Jump all over turbie for his staunch pro-cop stance as well then get back to me. Until then...................meh.

You mean like 90% of this forum does on a daily basis?

Any dogmatic viewpoint is going to be wrong.

That's beside the point. Anyone who condemns one extreme while ignoring the other is merely grandstanding. Most likely for the personal satisfaction of seeing their words on their monitor.

Funny, I tend to feel the same about people who live on those extremes

There are plenty of members with blinders on in this forum, not just you and The Turbinator. You just happen to be the one who's in my face right now. Sucks to be you.

I better sign off the internet ASAP then, seeing as I'm in your face (queue the delicate flower dirge).

Oh, and for the record (seeing as your first post was useless puff), I stated in the Peel cops thread that I've dealt with several Peel cops and never had any issues with them, but facts aren't what your posts are about. Just mindless rhetoric.
