Try manually selecting your boot media rather than relying on the boot sequence. Usually it's F1 or F12 at boot to select a drive to boot from.

But I usually use a USB drive anyway. Much faster and more reliable.

Speaking of which, everyone seen the new Windows 8 logo revealed today?

did you buy this computer around january last year? first gen intel i5 or i7?

I tried to mainly rely on fedora but they keep overloading it with all the cute bells and whistles, it is becoming like windows ME allover again. And I hate that stupid SElinux, keeps changing my samba settings, apparently it is not secure enough. At least with 7 UAC can be disabled

I did use the boot menu, but it seemed to skip the device I select, it is like the DVD is not bootable, and it moves to the next one. I ended up using the flash drive to start and it somehow switched to the DVD to extract the rest of the files and finish the installation. I finished it in the morning when I woke up. I am just glad it is over.

Who else is working night shift now?

I'm in tonight on O/T. Thought I'd spend it on stuff so I just ordered an SSD drive from NCIX. Want to use it in my netbook since the 320 GB original pooped itself and took all my movies with it. Hope the SSD's are all they are cracked up to be. (speed, battery life)

Don't hold your breath, I will wait at least one more year before I put SSD in my environments. I have 2 guys at work who installed their SSD's and now are suffering. I don't mean to crap over your new purchase but wanted to tell you to be cautious for the first little while.

Not sure what hes talking about. I have an ssd in my work and home.machine and they make an amazing difference. Win7 and a macbook pro. The drive is the largest bottleneck
