This will never make it to trial... Nobody will charge them and as for the target of their pursuit.. You saw how motivated they are to shut him up.. "Collateral damage" be damned.
My guess is that the slow-moving large projectiles got deflected down by laminated glass. Pistol rounds are highly ineffective.. Statistically, your chances of surviving getting shot by a handgun are 6/7. Rifles are a different story (faster, less deflection), but your average gangbanger doesn't walk around da hood with a rifle stuck down his shorts

Donner published a list of LAPD he intended to kill, shot family members of one and pulled up beside two cops parked at an intersection and opened fire on them. I dont think its out of proportion.
Shooting up a blue truck when you looking for a grey truck thats the wrong brand and carrying two people instead of one might be an issue.

I keep hearing people say this, so I just want this to be absolutely clear: Even if the truck were the same year, make, model and colour, and there was only one man driving it who matched Donner's description, it would still not be okay for the cops to fire first.
I completely agree with your statement.
They probably don't want to take the chance to try and make the driver pull over though, in case it actually is Donner and he comes out with a weapon and starts to shoot. The dumb cops are probably going with the typical Hollywood line of "shoot first, ask questions later" and hope it's who they're looking for. Sadly, in a state that has the same population of Canada, there are going to be a few vehicles out there that look identical!
They picked the wrong guy to **** with.

If the police are going to continue demonstrating how out of control they are, all Dorner has to do is sit back for a few weeks / months and laugh while they rack up the casualties for him.

Survival training or not, if he's out in Big Bear forest for two nights straight, he is dead.
Chances are, he has a car/cabin/cave whatever to keep warm(ish) in. I believe there are lots of cottages in the area.

Dorner might have an accomplice - initials J.Y.
It may well be his accomplice in the mountains, and Dorner is on his way to Mexico (as he reportedly tried to steal a boat earlier)
