Laid-off? GTAM Members looking-out.....???

Re: UML / Salesforce.com admin + APEX programmer / CRM / c# .net / SOAP WSDL

Does anyone have any connections with the Toronto Region Conservation Authority or any other conservation authorities?

I'm looking for a job in the environmental field.

I sort of do. But its not in Ontario. Most environmental jobs are coastal to my knowledge.

Re: UML / Salesforce.com admin + APEX programmer / CRM / c# .net / SOAP WSDL

I'm a Chemical Engineering grad with co-op experience doing both engineering work at a power plant and analytical lab work. Let me know if I can help you, or your organisation.

I would love that too. I worked for an environmental lab and really loved it. I love the outdoors

Looking for any junior programming jobs (testing, analyst, coding, etc.) starting this summer. Just finishing up school so am starting the search now. Lots of OO design experience - java, vb, asp, c#.

Hey guys,

Good thread. I am also looking for a job.

Recent grad from Masters of Accounting at uWaterloo. Working towards my CA designation and have completed the UFE. Am now looking for a position that will allow me to complete my experience requirement. Could be anything like KPMG, PwC, Deloitte, MNP, etc.

Thanks, and good luck to anyone searching now. It is brutal out there.

I used to work for TRCA and now work for another CA. Depending on what you are looking for, I might be able to help you get a foot in the door/contact.

I've applied to those jobs and no response, I wonder what I am doing wrong??

I hear it can be pretty competitive

Government jobs are awesome, lax and great pay. Makes sense that there is alot of competition. Don't know how you could get a leg up other than contacting hiring manager directly.

Some of them have 2 week closing periods for the postings themselves, and then it would be another 2-4 weeks before you are called in for a competency exam followed by an interview about 2 weeks later after exam results are tabulated. Many of those jobs should be hiring for start dates of around late April and have terms ending around late October, early November.

They can be competitive. Mine had about 400 people applying for 30 positions - so not too bad...

I applied for one in December. I see it reposted on the site with a new deadline

 I guess for some reason they must have felt your resume was lacking in either education and/or relevant experience. Apply for some other jobs there or revamp your resume and apply again?

In any event... good luck!

They are also looking for general machinists (mill, lathe).

This might appeal to some riders out there for the summer (saw it on craigslist - no affiliation):

"Start Making Money Riding Your Motorcycle!
We are looking for motorcycle riders who want to make money riding their motorcycles.
Summer days and especially summer nights were made for riding. But keeping and maintaining a motorcycle is not cheap. We are looking for people who want to make money riding their motorcycle in a group of their friends. If you want to convert you motorcycle from an expensive hobby into a money making machine, this is the job for you!
If this sounds like your next summer job, go to www.revinc.ca for more information.
This is the best summer job anyone can ever have!"

And here is another job in the industry to work at a bike shop:
http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/ret/2143201116.html
Has anyone given this a try/heard back from them?

----

Also, if anyone knows anyone hiring bartenders or even barbacks, please send me a PM!

I can also do marketing/promotions/pr work with references for days :D
