Kitchener/Waterloo area, c u next trackday riders thread!

the ignition on the CBR is actually quite heavy, given the ignition wires already sit outside of the frame, its pretty simple to do. Cut everything extra out of the wiring harness, which amounted to quite a bit actually. Fans, kickstands, headlights, etc, it all adds up. The only issue with the bike now is the rider :)

So we're firmly focused on SMP, Sunday May 25th. SMP hosted days typically have low attendance, 2 groups or open track, even on weekends. Especially when there's a race at Grand Bend I'm guessing :) Anyone else thinking about SMP? If on Thursday the forecast looks good for the Sunday then we'll be going. If not, but Friday looks good then we'll probably go check out the situation at GBM on Friday the 23rd.

yup, was talking to Tim about it this morning. Either wait for the weather or use the rain insurance option, not sure which one yet.

For me I'm just waiting. It's only $15 different.

Tim, you're looking at TMP this weekend, but still thinking SMP the following weekend? Cool.

Correct.
Looks like the Roll Call thread has nobody else here going.

Yeah, I have no plans to ever go to TMP again unless there's absolutely nothing else to choose from.

yeah, saw that too, Tim and I are in the same boat

I like the overall layout of the track (TMP) quite a bit (but the rest of the facility kind of blows). Seems as whenever I go to GB I'm stuck running modified track, which I am not a fan of at all. So if it comes to a choice of TMP or Modified, I'll go TMP. Otherwise, GB or SMP.
Maybe try the Mosport DDT later in the year after hearing a little more about it from people who have ridden it.

Uhm, then go to GB on days that are not Modified track :p it's not like they hide the layout before you get there. I agree with you though, Modified is my least liked layout at GB.

I also like TMP's layout, but it just needs to be scaled up so it would be wider and longer, like twice the length. As it is, all the corners in the infield are the same speed and passing though the infield with riders of equal pace is sketchy and not really safe in a track day environment. That and the rest of the facility, yeah... I'll do a street ride to the beach instead. haha

your both wrong, modified is the best track :)

I agree that passes are kind of difficult through large areas of TMP, but twice the length would put it well over most MotoGP/WSBK tracks - they usually are between 4.2-5 km in length. The Sachsenring is only 3.6 km in length. TMP is 3km in length. A 50% increase in overall size would be absolutely ideal. Unfortunately, the land mass (and tax payments of course) required would be huge.

As for the GB days... sometimes if you're jones'ing to go to a track day, and GB is only offering Modified.. what can ya do?

And Randy has obviously spent too much time in his shed with the motor running... thinking Modified is best...

LOL... Okay... Well at least you got my point. I didn't mean TMP should change it, God knows they'll never do anything to that track. It's the same as it was in 2003 when I first rode there.

I agree, Randy is definitely on fumes :p

I do run with a low fuel load ;)

If anyone needs a set of gloves or back protector let me know. I still have mine and will donate it to a worthy local

what make/size are the gloves?

Sunday at TMP was good fun. Ended up being an Open Track day.
Morning temperatures made the track extremely greasy until about 11 am.
One poor bugger binned it early - first rider on track, first lap of the day on turn 3/4. Separated his shoulder. Bike was pretty well undamaged as it was low speed (completely green rider, second day ever on track).

Once it warmed up, things were good fun. Not many "red" riders, pretty much all yellow and green pace.

Lunch break turned into 2 hours, as some rain came through and we had to wait for track to dry.

Guys With Bikes ran an excellent show.

Randy's got first dibs, but I'll shoot you some cash for them if they don't fit him... only fair after all!
