Gah, how do you guys get to all these Thursday days? x_x

I tried one day this year, and it went....poorly. Hopefully I can get out next year a bit :'(

What do you mean it went poorly? I check the track day schedules right when they come out (usually they have schedules out before the December show) and I book all the Thursdays off from work right away.

Basically it was a combination of a lack of rider skill, a misunderstanding of what the event entailed, and having to interact with some "unfriendly" (I'm being generous) people involved in the program.

Ouch, that doesn't sound like a good experience. Did you have a crash? Where was this?

Yeah, it was a small crash, but it was just sort of the icing on the shitcake that was my experience. It was at Grand Bend.

perhaps more detail would help discern what the negative experience entailed to see if the experience could be more positive next time. I don't know what happened, but please don't let 1 bad experience ruin track riding, it is a fantastic way to spend a day. The vast majority of track day riders are easy going and willing to help. We were all new once, we know what it's like. There are a number of us that go regularly if you are looking for guidance e.g. technical requirements, riding questions, or control riders to show you the lines.

next date: Thursday, Sept.19 @ GBM, who else is going?

Yep, that's my plan, weather permitting. Mounted 3 Bridgestone slicks the other night (1 front and 2 rears) and a set of EBC front rotors, because the brakes weren't wild enough on that bike. LOL

I know you like wider tires, but mounting 2 rears is really going to affect your turn-in :p

what compound on the slicks? I think I am done buying medium compound rear slicks, the CBR is eating them like a fat kid at a buffet. Sure the Superbike pro's aren't quite as sticky as the full race slicks, but 2 days at GBM a couple weekends ago showed almost no wear, which was nice. Oddly, the front is going to wear out before the rear.

Still have a dunlop 448 + michelin rear to burn up, but still getting used to them together, its a 65 rear and the carcass handles much different than the dunlop rear. Makes for some interesting cornering dynamics.

I'll look at the hard slick options that are out there, I'm not rich like you Dave :)

I don't remember what compound they are, but all Bridgestones are crazy soft anyway. Next year I'll try the UK Dunlops. Not sure if I'll try slicks or DOTs yet.

I'm not rich I just look that way. LOL
