Kitchener/Waterloo area, c u next trackday riders thread!

I looked at the GB website and it showed that the day is SOAR, but open to all sign ups...
Figured that SOAR and GB would have hashed it out before putting it on their website again.

Let us know what you find out Randy.
Either way, if the 11th is out, then the 23rd it is!

talked to Ken, yup, it is open if they list it, kind of a combined effort to fill the day. Ken warned that there were a ton of licenses sold this year, so space might be limited to outsiders, if they even open it up.

So which one is it, open or not?

depends how many SOAR guys sign up to go out for the practise (I take it from his response, he does not know yet). If there is room, it will be publicly open

So on GB's site it's already open for track day sign up but may not be open for track day sign up. They sound quite organised. :)

This is what I'm understanding:
You can sign up via GB, but if lots of people who are SOAR licensed show up you may end up with a refund and a thank you very much. If there is a poor turn out of SOAR licensees then we'll gladly let you play with us.

Methinks the 23rd with Racer5 might just be an idea. No crap to worry about, and I don't mind supporting Fawaz one bit.

Maybe I'll just watch the weather and SOAR turnout. Decide a few days before. Definitely Fawaz days are fantastic so I plan to attend some of those again this year.

What's fawaz? Lol

fawaz runs a good show for sure, just didn't like last time when we had 4 guys in red and only half a group in yellow, but definately looking at taking part in some of those days this year.

Isn't that a good thing? Means there's more room on the track no?

I'm out for most of may, going to Hawaii for a chunk of the month.

A small group just means no thrill of the chase, well thats what I think it would mean.

Room is good, your not held up by others, but since I don't really care about lap times, too much room isn't as much fun... if you pass 1 guy a session, thats about it. Going 2 groups in that case is better, however the yellow riders have to be comfortable with a couple red riders in the group (in which case you'd normally use yellow passing rules). Fawaz was ademate not to the last time at GB, but most track day organizers would run 2 groups. If your lucky like at SOAR practice weekend last year open track is great, do as many laps as you like. Went through an entire set of tires though in 1 weekend though :)

We need to fire up this thread!!!

So what winter mods has everyone been busy with?

#146

stiffer springs (1.10), new pads, a set of 448/449's, a couple sets of rosso 2's and Fast school

fork oil was surprisingly gross for being taken apart 2 years ago. All of the little pieces in them are nice and clean now. Trailer straps and coat hangers sure save a bunch of $$ on special honda tools :)

When Dave and I did the Racetechs in the SV after 5000km The fork oil was dirty as well. pretty surprising no doubt!!
