They think they're so cool aren't they?

I hope they get tried as an adult.

They'll likely skate on what should be serious charges. Unfortunately animals, like that bunch, rarely have just one brush with the law. They get away with this sort of thing for years and then, when they hit adulthood, are suddenly hit with the full force of the law. By then it's too late.

I've always maintained that the Young Offenders Act was a useless attempt at "correcting" the behaviour of all the little criminal bastards out there.

Well unfortunately far too many parents no longer seem interested in "correcting" the behaviour of their children. Maybe the Young Offenders Act should have concentrated more on correcting PARENTS.

Have you ever read Heinlein's "Starship Troopers"? I don't mean the crappy movie. In the book, society used corporal punishment. If a kid was caught for tagging a wall, he got put in the stocks. Right next to him they'd put one of his parents, for not properly teaching him right from wrong.

One of my all time favourite Sci Fi books. The similarity between his main character's portrayal of the Mobile Infantry training process and operation to my experience in the Canadian Forces was uncanny. Now 'll have to dig it out from my library and read it again, though, because my memory is a little foggy on the corporal punishment part. Just when I thought I had nothing to do today. Thanks, Rob.

yes, great book...albeit the movie had some of the best alien cgi i had seen out there, audio was horrible and the script was written like people talk in the 50's, but meh, still one of my fav movies...but only the first one...the book and movie obviously totally different from each other, but i love that guys work...

ok, enough thread jacking, parents need to be held more accountable for their kids actions...but saying that, my parents would probably have been shot by now for what i got up to in my youth, but still, kids can get away with murder still and not have a worry...

It's only mentioned in passing, in one of the Citizenship Class scenes. They gave a brief nod to it in one of the background news pieces, in the movie, but it was just someone getting whipped in the public square. They didn't go anywhere near the parental responsibility angle.

Literally, it seems these days. I doubt, though, that the issue of accountability will ever be resolved. I remember seeing an editorial cartoon several years ago that pretty much sums it up... it showed a little criminal bastard standing inside a circle of people with an arrogant look on his face. The circle consisted of a policeman pointing to a judge, who was pointing to the parents, who were pointing to the policeman.

For the length of the beating, and the number of hits.... there sure wasn't much damage to the victim!? Imagine how much of a pussy each attacker is on their own... I'd rather have to fight that group of guys, than one tough individual...

.
Why do it yourself, when the gov't (police) can do it for you?

Wait till his adrenaline wears off.
Just like survival, do all your planning and escaping while you're still strong.

Makes me wonder what happens in these schools, when they start bullying someone and the victim brings an assault rifle to school the next day and start shooting them. We only hear about the poor saps that get brutally shot.

Remember, I work in a university. More than once I've heard parents blaming a prof because their kid failed by missing assignment dates, or just plain not doing assigned work.

Is it where it all started where they grow up as adults finding someone to blame for their own errors??

chinese love to beat each other up, just like in the movies
and they hate each other, i love my culture...

but why are they calling each other nig***?

By the time they get here, if their parents are like the ones I've described, then they're already broken beyond redemption.

What a sad and painful realization

why they call each other N**'s....? i guess fighting in a group lowers the kids' intelligence even more.

A point to improve in terms of child education for chinese - maybe they should start sending their kids to martial arts or self defence schools instead of piano and violin schools.
