Ken's Motoworks' Thoughts on Ducati

What was Ken's response when you brought this up to him? This really surprises me since he has no doubt worked on dozens of 9xx models.

The bike basically went into straight into storage for 5 or 6 years, so there was no point bringing it up by the time I found out. Besides, like I said, nobody is being negative about him - in my experience even the best mess up sometimes, and with such a rare model like our 998 (only really one year of production if you don't count all of the "special editions" (AKA spare parts bikes) being sold alongside the 999's in 03-04), I was just happy to find someone who knew enough to install the belts properly so they didn't chew themselves up after 50 kms like the first place I used that just installed them like on a 996.

Well glad to have a fellow 998 owner. Brilliant bike period. I got some belts I need to install this winter.

If you've never done them yourself, there's apparently a spacer behind one of the pulleys that can get misaligned if the pulley is replaced without care and then the belts will chew themselves up pretty quickly.
