I saw a similar elitist experience yesterday at McDs. As I was getting my morning coffee a woman complained to the counter person that there was a older woman sleeping at the table by the door. The reply was that it was OK. The the woman got snarky with her friend about how disgusting it looked and what difference did it make if no one did anything about complaints. (This was McDonalds, not Starbucks).

The old woman could have been dead but the bitcher was more concerned about her scenic view. I checked on the lady on my way out and she was OK.
