Funny you say that, a mutual friend has a similar generator to the one I posted upgraded to an inverter (not sure if it was a honda she upgraded to) and had to switch back to the old clunker cause the inverter wouldn't do the job.
The champion generators at work need carb and start recoil work every month or so.
I have a couple of those cheap ones in the garage with less than a couple of hours on them that wont run for one reason or another.
In a thread about backup power for the home im not sure how a 1500w generator will do the job.
One could also argue the difference between standby power and emergency power. One powers your fridge the other your iron lung.

That would be awesome if it didn't use more energy that it creates.

physically impossible and besides the price of beer would make it cost prohibitive.
