Found an abandoned baby raccoon last night on our property, called animal control they say they can't take it. So we wait overnight to see if the mother comes around. No luck. This morning take it to the SPCA on woodbine in Newmarket where the fat cow there refuses to take it because I told her I live in Newmarket ( 1 mile away from the shelter) ???? I said I'm leaving it and you can decide what to do. At that point she says sir that is abandonment and I am taking your licence plate and calling the police. Abandonment of a wild animal??? Fat cow. What is wrong with these people...anyway the raccoon was cute hope he makes it....proof again animals are better than people.

Next time if the raccoon happens to "wiggle its way out of your hands" when you are in the spca I don't think they could really do much about it then.

They can't do anything anyway its just the attitude

Keep it as a pet!

A horse farm I used to work at a long time ago had a tame racoon. Got along well with the barn cats too. It was a similar story, abandoned as a baby so it was raised with the cats.

We were thinking about it but already have 3 dogs 3 horses.

Sonny, you still got it or let it go into the wild? I could use one as a guard dog, I mean, racoon :D

Raccoons are friggen awesome. I can't believe they did nothing about it, but kudos to you for attempting. Keep us posted!

Cute little fella.
So what's that dope ride on the background? More pics of it?

Walking to my truck this morning I see this baby raccoon sleeping on top of the fence.

but I hear him making noise. is he dreaming? nope. there is another one somewhere. They always get trapped in the dumpster when it isn't full enough for them to climb out.

Nope no one in the dumpster. Walking around looking for the other one.

Found him.

Dude you're stuck upside down between a shed and fence.

I go knock on a neighbours door to get the number for the Toronto wildlife Centre. (416-631-0662) They don't open until 9:00am. So I get some gloves, grab the first guy that's sleeping and put him in the cab of the truck. Had to cut the fence to get the second guy out, he wasn't happy and peed all over his face.

When I lived in BC I had a friend with a pet Raccoon. It would sit in the kitchen and eat cat food from a dish picking up each piece of kibble individually with it's front paws. I want one

Toronto wildlife Centre just called me back. They're good like that. If you ever find an animal in need of help these are the people to call. I've called them a few times now. Found an injured American Bittern and them came and got it. Had a squirrel fall out of a tree right in front of me and his eye was popping out of his head, they came and got him as well.

They will send you stuff in the mail later asking for money.

Filthy animals.. Keen on damaging property, making a mess and their feces have a nasty parasite in'em. I wish we were allowed to just shoot'em. The ticket would be worth thousands in Toronto, though :(
