Not sure why Natural Gas is now considered bad, even though multiple countries are begging us for it, and using coal in the meantime.
Is the plan to turn off poor people's heat here next winter, and lower the world population?

Yup. 2 requests that were approved to the energy board within 2022. About 50% more for gas alone. Then add the Carbon Tax...and all the lovely fees...and here we are.
who wants to bet how much gas will go down once the war is over and the global supply returns to normal?
Mine went up almost 100 for slightly less usage.
I figure it will now cost me about 1000 more a month to live in the same house I've been paying for for 14 years..
It's sanctioned. Board has to approve pricing changes but does so willingly. By definition, each territory operates as a monopoly so there is no possible competition (other than heat pump to use less gas but that's not real competition).

IIRC the cons got more votes but broken Liberal promises negated that with riding imbalances.

I just got my new mortgage statement with the latest rate hike...$1200/bi-weekly compared to my $980/bi-weekly when I was fixed. FML.
I am gunning for a promotion at work and if it doesn't work out...may be time to look for a new job.
Thankfully both our house and car insurance rates have not changed. Waiting to see my motorcycle insurance and how that's affected.

I should know this week or early next whether I get the role and what the new $ is. Next pay grade is a minimum of 10k above what I'm earning now...so if I can argue for a bit more...may be worth it to stick around.
If not...I've got some decisions to make.
Taxes both federal and provincial, interest rates going up, going to be lots of hurting in the next few months

Yeah, ours is set to renew in July and we decided to hold out to save about 2400 during that timeframe, but we check everyday.
If that raise pushes you into a new tax bracket it may not be as exciting as you'd hoped for...

Make sure you submit meter readings. Otherwise they just over estimate and won't correct it if they are over.
