In 2014, Grand Bend will now have 6 track layouts!

I did some breaking too.

How you getting on with that anyway?

It took a while (partly because I was so busy) but I'm finally able to go to the gym this month. No where near full strength. Can't do a pull up yet, but I can bench and do push ups finally. Probably could have been working out 2 months ago but I was too busy. Looks pretty odd in the mirror for sure.

10 really, since it seems every layout is reversible

Yeah, if technical reverse ends up being safe, yeah! 10 layouts! Hmm... long track reverse, runoff the trailer straight into the paddock? There's lots of grass there. ;)

^ If there is a way to deal with run-off at the corner at the end of the main straightaway when running in reverse, that's true, every config can run reverse. I can't see there being much distance between that corner and the wall at the dragstrip - but then, every time I've been through that corner so far, I haven't been looking in that direction ...

edit: True. Long track reverse, the end of the second straight could be interesting, too ...

bad more like.

What's the worst case scenario when determining if there is enough runoff? Complete brake failure at the end of the straight? If you're doing 250 and run straight on it would take huge distance to stop, especially without a gravel trap. Assuming it can be kept upright at all...

don't sweat it guys that isn't going to happen no way to work that configuration. I have ideas to deal with back straight but no way for straight into pits! hell I still haven't commited to reverse technical yet I need a better look at it. to confirm my plan will even work safely.

LOL...yeah...I didn't think about the straight parallel to the drag strip from Reverse Long Track...that'd suck to have brakes fail at the end.....You could make it to the onions,LOL

Worse than that, potentially into the bathroom building!

Just an FYI re the time slip booth for the dragstrip - we are planning to make it moveable - so when we run any reverse configurations or possible road course layouts that include that left onto the stretch of the Dragstrip (cars only) we can just lift off its moorings and move it - plan is to sink metal posts in the ground flush and have smaller ones that slide into those attached to the shack so when we lift it out there isn't anything sticking up to hit. The distance from the start of the turn to the wall along the dragstrip if you went straight is approx 250ft. and it will be obstruction free to that point. If someone had a problem on the backstrech there will also be the opportunity to follow the pavement and take a sweeping righthand turn toward the end of the dragstrip (to be added this coming year)

THATS why I love GBM. What other track does this stuff for motorcycles? Everyone reading this please remember this stuff when deciding where to spend your track day dollars. Please support those who support our sport. Thanks Paul will be in touch shortly I think I have an answer on that other matter we were talking about last week.

Definitely! #1 reason why I'd rather go to GBM any day over TMP!

We love everything about GBM over TMP. Way better place to ride, pit, and bring my family to. No walls to crash into. More to do when the day's riding is done as well. Gas and groceries, beach, nightlife, entertainment etc all nearby. Bathrooms don't stink like a sewer. The pits are quiet enough to have conversations in, instead of trying to scream back and forth at eachother at TMP, 20' from the track.

You guys are awsome.

Yep, the free timmies at a cold riders meetings are very much appreciated.

Shouldn't you count runoff room from the start of the braking zone? Should give you another 50m at least.

After 32+years in this sport it is truely refreshing to see a track be proactive about safety! You people really need to respect that becasue it is a very rare concept!
Thank you Paul and all the staff at GBM. You're a special bunch and deserve the business!
Great Job!

^ Absolutely. GBM rocks, and it's because the people who run it rock. The movable timing shack is a good idea.
