I'm giving away money

First off I think what you are doing is wonderful! :)

Maybe donate the money to a local children's sports league for equipment etc, buy non-perishable food items and bring it to a local food bank, or sponsor 3 different people doing different charity runs, walks etc.. At $100 dollars each.

Happy Birthday, I just turned 20 last week and had a blast, hope yours is awesome!

If you haven't given it away, do it as a draw. Put everyone's name on a paper in a hat (there's not to many people in the thread), along with other suggestions that were offered do a random draw and all is well. You will feel good, something good will come out of it for one of the options and it will be fair...:D

Eat lots of cake :happy3:

He's offering $300, not $3,000 or $30,000... lol

I'm REALLY ugly. A wig and some makeup from party packagers would even help!

Happy Birthday!! I'll pm you my story of why I could use $300.
Ok im getting Pm's but I would prefer people share with everyone unless obviously it's very personal. I'm flexible on the 300 too if there's an important issue or an emergency

I'd be surprised if anyone posting here could put the money to better use than a charity. Lots of people could use it but the people who really need it aren't on this forum.

+1 Most of the users here have bikes - a luxury.

I think it might be best if you gave them the thing they needed directly instead of the cash. There have been scamers in the past i.e. Timmay that took the money and ran. Unfortunately, there are a lot of bad people as much as there are people in need.

My cause is charitable work that could help many causes.
First my drug dealer could get paid. With the money he could pay some his lawyer fee's and possibly not go to jail leaving his children fatherless.
Second if I don't buy the booze from the LCBO or beer store; I could support local bootlegger's. This could help our small time entrepreneur's and small mom and pop businesses.
Third is that all the lap dance's I get could possibly help putting a young misguided girl through college. This could help her possibly become a doctor and help GTAM member's if they ever needed medical attention.
Forth I could post a video of me finger banging the peeler and you all get to watch enjoy.

Yes of course but they might know someone who needs it.

Spending the money on a stripper (as I alluded) would be less of a waste than donating it to MADD (80+% of the money would go to marketing firms and the rest to management bonuses). By the way, happy b-day

P.S. CNIB is a good cause to donate to

I applaud what you are doing. Another suggestion based on what we are doing at our church.

On the last Sunday of each month we hold a potluck BBQ to feed the homeless and those in our neighbourhood (really low income). Today was our 3rd time doing it and through word of mouth and need, we had almost 4x the number of people show up today than at the end of June. It is advertised to begin at 11:15, a homeless family (Mom, Dad and 4 kids) were there at 9:15 looking to use the restrooms while they waited for the BBQ. Our crowds came so quick and early, we cancelled service and ended up just cooking and feeding for 2 hours (even ran out and had to head to a grocery store).

So my idea - clearly there is an organisation in the GTA that does something similar. Giving them part or all of your funds will make a huge difference. I don't know what today cost us (most of us bring something) but it was well over $300 - that I know. A donation like yours would help immensely.

And for the record, no I am not asking you to donate to our church or our program, the need is just as great in the GTA, find a similar organisation and make their day a bit brighter.

+1 Lots of hungry people out there that could use it.

Anybody know of a local place like this? I still want to impact an individual who needs it as well as a group like this. Looks like I'm upping the budget!

I need the money to help pay off my CFA exam notes... they cost $1000...

Happy Birthday!

Here is my stroy:binky:
Parallel to my main job and bike riding I am trying to support and organize art projects.
I organize one project this year: I'm bringin a Russian contemporary (non-comercial) theatre, with two of their performances. The performances will be played in Montreal on September 10th and 11th, in Toronto on September 17th and 18th. Additionally, the theatre will participate in the International Theatre festival in Mont-Laurier (QC).
I did similar project in 2009, when we produced a play during two weeks in Toronto with 2 Russian and 2 Canadian actors. I posted it here
This time, I'm trying to do something for wider audience: both shows will be bi-lingual (russian-english, and russian-french), so English speaking spectators would be more comfortable.
I am organizing this mostly on my own money and have Drama College (UofT), who will give something, so far... So I would very appreciate if you decide to give those money to me:D It will help me in showing something beautiful to everybody!
Here is the website for more information about the project, the not-for-profit organization I organized this year: CoExArt.com

Why am I doing that: I think, that the world around us is at first of all is what we can (able) see, our impressions! Contemporary and Experimental Arts gives us new impressions - gives us new world around!
