If You Could Turn Back Time

On that topic, hows that friend doing right now? Is he enjoying his 500 foot yacht somewhere off the coast of Tahiti right now?

He wasn't that guy who spent 10,000 Bitcoin on a Pizza I hope lol.

No, that wasn't him, and he didn't eat that banana art exhibit either, lol.

We're not close, but mutual friends who are tell me he's doing well. I did get together with him last year when I visited the Philippines, and he seems to live a modest lifestyle. Other than living in a huge penthouse at one of the hotels, and basically travelling every week, he seems to live pretty modestly (in other words, no yacht).

All they need is justines face on there!

His face would be OTT IMHSHO. Him swimming as a boy at Harrington Lake has already replaced Terry Fox on the passport, so that image is out. Him and his entourage cutting in the lift line snowboarding at Red Mountain would work.

I was going to look that up

""I Just posted on the Forum. I said, 'You know, if anybody's interested, I'm offering 10,000 Bitcoin in exchange for some pizza.' Somebody there said, 'Hey, I'll take you up on that offer,' so I sent him the 10,000 Bitcoin. He paid with his credit card, and the pizza showed up at my door."

At $150,000 CDN that's 15,000,000,000 for $50 worth of pizza. 2 cents a coin.

It sounds like a crypto forum and crypto then being taken as seriously as rookie Mantle or Maris bubble gum cards, many of which were beaten to pulp on bicycle spokes.

Apparently the guy is philosophical about it. I don't know who ended up with the coins.

Mind boggling. I'd have to call Justin to help me spend it.

Looking for something else I found a bunch of 35 MM picture slides from the pre-digital age. Most were of the Rockies but some were family. My wife looks as amazing today as she did back then. Unfortunately my eyes have developed wrinkles.

Going back I wouldn't change a thing.

Can slides be digitized? I'd like to keep a few of the pictures.

Now, even with digital cameras, I don't bother much with scenery. Better pictures than mine can be downloaded.

Yes. Ideally with a slide scanner but you can get away with flatbed scanner (there will be an image but you'll lose a lot of detail). If you have a way to project them, the ghetto solution is to take pictures of the projected image.

If you can pick out the ones worth saving, there are people that will digitize them for you for not a tragic amount of money. If you want to drop off all of your carousels and then flip through the digital images, the cost will add up quickly.

I found Digital Treasures and had them do a couple dozen slides to a thumb drive. Prices start at about 75c each. Now they're doing a VHS tape.

I paid a bit more to get better resolution.
