If you could load your bike on a plane and had 6 weeks off, where would you go?

PP I recall you like the long ( insanely?) rides but it will depend a bit what bike you end up with here. I think you can get your current bike here.

You would have to time the trip if you want to circumnavigate as the top end can be impossible in the wet. You'd want to watch the vlogs for routes.
Likely the hinge seasons ...maybe spring here which is Sept so you have at least 6 weeks before the Wet sets in.

Critters on the highway are a real threat as many areas even for the major highways in the north there are no fences for cattle, horses and of course roos which are crazy fast. Generally drivers in the north are decently polite with the possible exception of tradies.

I'd suspect Melbourne and Sydney are completely different.
Sydney should be a bucket list for sure.
There is good riding west of Brisbane.
As there is no real winter at all roads are generally very good on the major routes....it's just the distance.
Got a photo of a sign with Alice Springs some 1400 km away....maybe two small towns in between.

Kakadu is a must do. Crocs, birds, buffalo as it may have been like a couple centuries ago....maybe Arnheim Land and the gorge at Katherine when you are in that area. Speeds are 130 in part of that area

Can't speak to the western part of Australia. Still on my bucket list.
Timed wrong you could really get hung up for many many days in the north crossing to the west - there are simply no alternative routes.

Starting in the North then looping around makes the most sense to me as you move south as the weather warms up.

S Africa is spectacular ....500 km wine route out of Cape Town and roads are good. Risks in the Western Cape are drunk drivers on payday and heat in the deserts.
Will be interested in seeing what you choose. 🍿

Spending a couple days on the Reef means maybe a meetup.

oh yeah mind the right turns...

I'm throwing this at the wall from a mostly theoretical standpoint where technicalities like this don't apply.

Ah, a theoretical discussion! I get it now.

I thought you suddenly came into a bunch of money and was asking for advice.

Was so excited for you and curious to see where you would go with your motorcycle!!!

Iceland - not sure there is 6 weeks of riding there.
Wife and I drove Iceland back in 2016. Took us 12 days and we only stayed on the Ring Road 95% of the time and we missed a lot due to our time limitations. I think there's close to 6 weeks of riding there if you start to explore the interior.

So, only six weeks with a motorcycle and anywhere in the world?

No brainer, for me, it'd be Utah with a dual sport. Doesn't matter that we've been there many times before.

For pure motorcycle enjoyment, out-of-this-planet scenery and almost zero restriction on where you can go with a motorized vehicle, that state is MotoHeaven!

Would go back in a heartbeat!

It's like chicken soup for the motorcycle soul. Spiked with Red Bull...

I wish. If my 6/49 hits one day, there will be signs - this sort of silliness won't be theoretical anymore and I'll suddenly be posting riding photos from all corners of the earth lol.

My wife and I looked hard and long at Iceland in 2021, the second year of Covid. Iceland was one of the few areas that was reopening to tourists and felt safe, plus we were looking at doing a "Rent an RV and travel on your own time" thing where we'd have not been crowded in a hotel with others etc etc. It didn't end up happening, but is still on the bucket list.

Highly recommend it. If you need some tips or a copy of our itinerary just ask.

We went in late March just after the snow melted.

Thx. Did you do the RV thing, or ride?

Rented a small hatchback and stayed at guest houses. Awesome idea.

Staying with locals who invited us into their homes to cook us dinner, play some local songs or talk about how the island has changed in their lifetime (volcanic eruptions). They also give you nice tips on where to find some super secluded hot springs not on the map.

The best thing about the trip is you don't even need the RV to get that 'secluded feel' (in the off season at least). Since like 40% of the population lives in the capital, once you're out and about on the road it feels pretty much like a you and her kinda trip. Away from the city the wait time for pictures was seconds, no lineups, no traffic..was a great place to do a road trip for sure.

I would have a hard time deciding whether I’d cross Canada on gravel or ride every motorcycle road in California.

Evoex - I don't think PP is keen on dual sporting as a holiday destination.
Huh?
Consider his Imperial Cruiser ride .....don't think suitable for Drakensburg back roads, the Sani Pass or F roads in Iceland.
For looping Australia he'd be okay with managing fuel stops.
Even here - going west past Chillagoe it's 500km+ to the next fuel.

That part I understood. I'm not sure what 6 weeks riding the interior of Iceland has to do with PP.

One of my goals is to follow Shane on a US trip, dude is a weapon with mileage
Why does that come off being a little stakerish??
Here is your chance:

6 weeks, huh?

Fly into Spain and take the long way to the UK through France, up and down and up again through Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France again and into the UK to fly home.
Ditto for me. I'm buying/renting a Multistrada to do it though.

Isle of Man might be fun. Putter around, watch a race.
Headed to the IOM this year for the Manx GP. I couldn't find bike rentals on the island.
