I Saw You: V.2.0

Ya I better switch from jerk mode to leg humping mode, sorry I was not aware.

No but seriously, these people that think riding motorcyles in a spirited manner is "the #1 cause for high insurance rates" are completely retarded. You think statefarm is out there patrolling the streets checking out which kinds of bikes are splitting lanes and popping wheelies? Insurance is 100% based on statistical data and clames history, our car insurance is just as high. The actual "#1 reason" is the fact that every ******* here sues for ever singel fender bender and the sheer volume of claims we have in this province. The average yearly premium for a super sport in the U.S. is in the hundreds of dollars, you think amercan riders ride more conservativly then we do here in Ontario?

But keep blaming it on the people who ride their bikes agresivly on the street, I will continue to pass you on the right while you cruise 100km/h in the left lane, don't be suprised if instead of a wave you get the finger : )

People who ride more aggressively are more likely to crash, resulting in them becoming one of those "statistics" or "claims" that you mentioned.

hehe bit off topic now.

Rob,

Do we actualy know that to be true? Sometime in the last 12 months I read an article that said that the fewest crashes occured on the highways when something like half the drivers were what would commonly be labeled as "aggressive" drivers. If I recall correctly part of the reasons given were that it allowed thraffic to spread out instead of being bunched behind slow drivers hogging lanes, that it reduced overall driver frustration, and that there tended to be better lane discipline.

There is a lot of "common wisdom" that simply isn't backed by any real hard data.

You're right in that insurance companies do base rates on statistics. If statistics show that a bunch of arse-clowns on SS bikes tend to get into more collisions and receive more tickets for speeding, reckless, etc., then guess what? The rates for particular bikes increase. The same goes for cars. Ever wonder why an excellent driver in a Mustang is penalized more for insurance than if he/she drove a Subaru? Because statistically, more Mustangs are involved in collisions because - statistically - more aggressive drivers are drawn to having Mustangs. This isn't rocket science.

I don't know who you *think* you're speaking to, but I have been driving for 20 years now, and had my share of tickets (when I was young and stupid, I may add). Of course State Farm doesn't patrol the streets. But insurance companies do keep tabs on which of their patrons accrue infractions through abstract reviews, the type of infractions incurred, and correlate that to the type of vehicle the offending patron drives/rides.

Moreover, there's a difference between riding in a spirited manner and riding like a moron. One of them doesn't include lane-splitting in rush hour traffic. Can you guess which one?

Btw, you're "it."

Have a lovely evening.

It sounded totally orgasmic.........

Dude on the red/orange & black CBR around 6PM today, on Steeles near Keele. Pretty wild accident we passed, eh? Involved a TTC bus, a big-rig, a Mercedes-Benz that got crunched in between them (most likely trying to squeeze through to pass, and failed...)

Always enjoy watching the videos my helmet cam produce -- seems like there's almost always something interesting happening on each ride I record.

I heard a bike drive by..didn't see it as i was sleeping in my truck bathurst and elgin mills. If i was to guess i think it was a gsxr I looked up and saw in the distance he/or she was wearing shorts. friday at noon

Saw a group of SS in Bradford this morning at the Country Style parking lot. My guess is meeting up for a ride. I was on an Orange K9 Gixxer 600. Sorry I didn't stop, I was en route home. I had no idea the damned Carrotfest was going on either.

Depends on how you define "aggressive." These days police like to include simple speeding in the aggressive driving category, which can explain those statistics that you're talking about. When traffic is generally moving at well above the posted speed limit, it becomes dangerous to travel at or below that limit.

Simple logic dictates that, if you take more chances, you're more likely to get bitten by it.

Sexy white ducati parked in a back alley garage in the bloor west area.
Every day I ride past on my way to work and it's there, every day I ride back and it's there. everytime I walk into the back alley to walk the dog it's there. it never changes position. that little red security light always blinking. like a tear running down it's cheek becuase it's been left alone.

Dude, you can store my ninja in the garage and I'll gladly ride her for you.

really?

that brief experience with a bike you did/didn't see inspired you enough to write this pointless post? and the rider was wearing shorts? no way!!

unless you have concrete stats or looking for someone spare the rest your pointless encounters with unidentified motorcycles
