I Saw You: V.2.0

Saw this guy at Erin Mills and QEW turnoff.
Protecting only his upper half with real gear. Bottom Half = Loafers and Dress pants.

Why do cruiser riders think they don't need full protection?

Well perhaps because he isn't on a cruiser....lol That is a sport touring bike... sorry for the interruption back to your regularly scheduled rant.

I just assume that riders made their own choice on what they want to wear.

Here's a couple of sport bikers for review:

Same ideas it seems. Let's cover our head and upper body, lower body? Who needs protection?

95% of the time

I'm geared from head to toe (helmet, jacket, gloves, pants, shoes)

The other 5% i'll have everything minus the pants. Say if i go for lunch downtown, or ride to the drug store or grocery store that's 1km away...
I know the risk is there 100% of the time but that's the risk i'm willing to take. SO much so that if i don't have my gear on, i feel weird and naked on the bike.

95% of the time, I don't wear my A* riding pants. I need good riding jeans that don't look dorky.

I only have one pair of riding pants, Dainese jeans. Wear them every single time I'm on the bike, and fortunately nobody at work cares if I'm wearing jeans.

I really should get a second pair since I only ride in the jeans and I ride almost everyday...

Resurgence jeans.
Expensive but worth it.

I'm gonna have to do a whole bunch of overtime before i can get myself a pair of those!
I've seen them at GP and at Rider's choice

That's actually not bad at all. My brother paid an outrageous amount for his riding jeans, like $750 after taxes and shipping. I still mock him for that.

I buy whole bikes for way less.

$750????

Yeh he got hit for extra duty by UPS. Retail price was US$550 back when the Canadian dollar was almost at parity. I'll ask him what they are (outside of ridiculous.)

Let's get this thread back on track.

SuperDuke 1290 with exhaust today near Yonge and Gamble - Nice!!!
Yamaha XSR in same area yesterday - Looked great!

Same, but I can probably count the amount of times I haven't ridden with full gear on 1 hand in the past 5+ years. I even wear race boots into work. An hour to hour and a half commute in traffic 80% of the time can open up a lot of opportunities for an accident to occur..

My rationale behind it is: If a much more skilled/experienced rider can get into a collision/make a mistake, I sure as hell can too.

That being said, it makes no sense to start shaming everyone that doesn't wear full gear - it's their own choice. Same can be said for all bicyclists that don't even wear a helmet.

In many other places, it's actually seen as weird to be in full gear for street riding and people will start seeing you as a try-hard street racer/poser.

Back on topic: Yesterday parked at work (in a lot) near King & Spadina, came back to see some Moto Guzzi sharing a spot with me (Grey Ninja 300). Hello and nice bike!

I protect everything. Hell, I even wear a jock when I ride.

Saw a white/blue /red cbr 125 filling up at the Shell at Goreway and Queen about an hour ago. Damn that bike was loud for a 125!
