I GOT my SHOT

wife had Phfizer , both shots , zero side effects no arm pain. I had moderna, 1st shot , arm hurt second day for about 6hrs but not enough to limit any activities or be more than a mild ache, and over in 6 hrs.

I understand a bit has to do with the person giving the shot, apparently there is a knack to it ? sounds like voodoo but apparently some folks are just better at it than others.

That's not ideal for mississauga if true. Apparently they are training fire fighters to inject vaccine to free up nurses for hospitals.

Well then I’m going to definitely disappoint if I’m the entertainment...

Be mindful with the, uh, “solo time”. ?

As for the needles, yeah, the person giving them makes a huge difference - I’ve had Cortisone shots using huge horse needles directly into joints that hurt less than some butchers giving tiny little needles at previous vaccinations.

The crew at the blood donor clinics are the best. A needle the size of a garden hose and I rarely feel more than a slight prick.

But I do think what’s in the syringe matters as well to some extent.

Hematologist for the win.

Add me to the list of the jabbed. I'm 43, so AZ all the way.

Absolutely zero luck finding anything in Hamilton despite signing up to about eight waiting lists at a variety of pharmacies, large and small. The Vax Hunters thing seems to be a double edged sword, as it makes sure vaccines are used, but I spoke to one exhausted pharmacist who said having her small pharmacy on their feed basically destroyed a day with non-stop calls and walk-ins.

I eventually figured out the Walmart system gave instant feedback on every store's availability if you selected the store, and found one in Vaughan. Took a lot of clicking back and forth, but it's doable if you're determined and willing to drive a bit.

First time I've been in a Walmart for years, but I'll be back at least once more, as I was able to schedule the second shot for 12 weeks to the minute from the first. Looking forward to feeling crappy tomorrow, as it means the vaccine is working. Two weeks from now I'll be a bit more relaxed...

Got a Pfizer through York Region today, guess that's a benefit of living in a hotspot.

Didn't even feel the shot at all, had to confirm she did it as I was looking away.

I read an article in Inside Halton that the SDM on Dundas & 3rd Line (kitty corner to the new hospital) is offering walk in vaccines 24/7...just spoke to the pharmacist and he says the line up is so long it's taking 4 hours to get to the front of the line....wow...

If someone wants to read some good news amongst all the gloom.

For anyone looking for a great well documented and detailed source of info on the situation, @EdTubb has been a most excellent option.

We've hit a plateau the last few days. That's good news.

Testing volume is down as some people noticed and focused on...but...

Hopefully this trend continues.

Another on the list of the jabbed. AZ at a Hamilton Pharmacy. My wife & I were on about 8 waitlists, I called one pharmacy after registering and got an appointment. That one got cancelled as the doses expected were diverted to a Scarborough hotspot. An hour later a different pharmacy sent an invite and I accepted, got a call 2 hrs after that for a different pharmacy (which I declined). I assume they got their doses as it is in a Hamilton mountain hotspot (next post code over to me). When I was speaking to them I found out the the waitlist is 1400+ long for that one store alone, they are only sending invites when doses arrive in store.

EDIT: Very little in the way of side effects for me. No sore arm, super mild headache and a little rise in temp & a little overall body ache. Nothing a Advil/Tylenol wouldn't fix. They booked my next appointment for 4months out.

Has anyone here who's been vaccinated have any allergies to penicillin and/or sulfa? I do and carry an Epi Pen and so far, haven't found anything about possible reactions with the vaccines (I'm scheduled for April 30 through Halton Public Health, so most like getting the Pfizer or Moderna)...I've read the ingredients, but a lot of it doesn't mean much to me...I'll call my doc this week, however she's so hard to reach, I thought I'd ask here in case anyone else is in a similar situation...TIA

I'm allergic to all antibiotics. And codeine.
I survived the AZ on April 16.

My wife's allergic to sulfa, we had the Pfizer shots, and experienced some mild reactions but nothing serious. For both of us, it felt like we were coming down with something, like at the beginning of a cold, but it didn't get worse and dissipated after a few days.

@Gary I'm allergic to codeine and demerol too...but figured those two definitely wouldn't be in any of the vaccines...never met anyone else with an allergy to codeine...cool... :D
I didn’t find much / any info either, prior to my shot.
I picked the pharmacist's brain a bit before I let her stick it in.
What happens when you take codeine?
I get severe esophagitis.
