I GOT my SHOT

How did you book? I was looking today and couldn’t find it. I assumed they weren’t allowing bookings until tomorrow?

Sent from my iPhone using GTAMotorcycle.com mobile app
I called the pharmacy and gave them my info. I also signed up at REXALL and they took my online booking when I input my birthday. I cancelled that one soon as I got into the IDA.

We've only had one year to get ready for this....how is this patchwork system of trying to get signed up at multiple sources even allowed. There should be one central system where you sign up and get farmed out to each pharmacy as it is your turn. As it is you have to sign up for a notification at multiple locations hoping for the earliest one....and then cancel all the others? Makes no sense. We're monkeys compared to other countries.

If someone wants to roll the dice that wants a shot

I and my spouse had appts for Wed April 21 at Shoppers afternoon

We got the last minute call from our home pharmacy last week and got the shot.

I physically went to Shoppers and told them to release/rebook the 2 spots last week

I am still getting messages about the appt tomorrow

If anyone in Halton region that is waiting for a time slot and frustrated....maybe roll the dice with what is likely 2 open slots on Wed aft

If there are frustrations don't take it out on the front line workers. Leadership has been the problem.

The lack of vaccines is problem number one and Canada has limited control. I question why we spent so much up front for the magic beans.

The vaccine not being logically distributed is problem two. Knock down the numbers in the hot spots to take the load off the front line.

Some of the vaccine sites are more efficient than others. Trillium Hospital wasn't as efficient as the vacant Target store at Cloverdale Mall.

The Target store was wide open so they laid out the place in the most efficient way using desks, office partitions, pylons etc. There was lots of fee parking.

Trillium Hospital had to use hallway and room spaces that were not designed for mass vaccinations. Considering the restrictions they did a good job.

Parking at Trillium was made free by cordoning off part of the paid parking. It was tight and the exit seemed to be a challenge to the grey hairs. Still, well done under the circumstances.

The confusion now is with matching the arms with the vaccine. Do you move the arms to the vaccine or the vaccine to the arms?

How far is a person prepared to go for a jab?

If I want a tool from Canadian Tire I go on their website and it takes me to my nearest or favourite store. The site tells me if it's in stock, how many, what aisle and shelf. If the tool isn't at my favourite store it searches for the tool in an expanding circle from my location.

For the vaccine, I'm good with several hours drive and putting a hundred dollar no show charge on my credit card. Others may not.

How available is the arm?

I can normally drop what I'm doing and run 24/7. Others need to book time off at work, arrange babysitting etc.

I hope that the heads of government are thinking about these because the lockdown leadership is seriously lacking and the procedures will be needed for waves four, five and six if they don't get their acts together.

P.S. Throw in some organ donor communications. When that liver you're waiting for suddenly becomes available they don't wait forever for you to drop by. There has to be a cascading system of communications. Use it when there are surplus shots.

JT stubbornly sticking to distribution per capita (with a single minor exception) instead of sending to hotspots is yet another electioneering embarrassment. Who cares how many people die as long as we make sure that we get lots of votes. Similarly, I'm in Simcoe which isn't on fire, if I have to wait a few more weeks to get toronto and peel the supplies they need, I'm ok with that.

I'll be curious what todays "needles in arms" number shows tomorrow after todays big change to 40 and up for AstraZeneca.

@justride I went to that website and it doesn't help you book an appointment, just gives a listing of pharmacies in your area...same thing for the provincial website...I qualify for one through Halton PHU as I'm a teacher, but hubby doesn't yet...tried calling at least 8 pharmacies in Milton to get him an appointment and all are on a wait list...no appointments available...called Halton PHU and fi he can get his employer to sign off on this employment verification form to say he's in the essential workers phase 1 category, then yes he can book, otherwise he has to wait for the phase 2 essential workers category to open up which may be another week or so...

and then something like this happens to bolster consumer confidence...(face palm)

I saw that. I am impressed that only six out of so many million have been bungled. My guess is a workflow issue and someone had a brain fart. That is only one vial worth of shots.
