Ya but that doesn’t make for good tv ratings or controversy.....with nothing entertaining in the news they need something.more women die from birth control pills globally than AZ will ever come close to, and nobody is saying stop taking birth control.
so much stupid being reported
And if you were holding out for "the good vaccines"............
Blood clots as prevalent with Pfizer and Moderna vaccine as with AstraZeneca's: study
A study by Oxford University found the number of people who receive blood clots after getting vaccinated with a coronavirus vaccine are about the same for...www.marketwatch.com
I'm still a little sketched out by all of the behind the scenes string pulling that is probably happening. Is it coincidental that the vaccine that has offered itself to struggling countries at cost is being hammered by media in developed countries where big pharma has a lot of advertising/lobbying money to spend? Not saying people should avoid AZ, but the article talks about a study without link to said study. Comments below are shouting conflict of interest, Oxford university study for an oxford university vaccine?
Have not dug into this but seems questionable that various countries with federal health agencies have stopped using AZ and/or investigating and imposed age limits vs. no action on the Pfizer and Moderna.
People also don't realize that COVID would produce worse blood clots in the same people that may get them from the vaccine.
The blood clot thing doesn't bother me but I prefer to have a high efficacy vaccine if I can get it.
For me, the shot is about avoiding hospital/dying (and regaining the ability to see my parents in reasonable safety). If I catch it and have some symptoms and feel like crap for a week, so be it. I am going to be sticking with the reasonably effective protocol (mask/distance) for the foreseeable future anyway.70-76% against symptomatic covid. Pretty much 100% protection against severe illness or hospitalization.
Nothing to really complain about honestly. Yeah, a slightly higher chance you might still get infected vs Moderna / Pfizer, but we're talking a total non event at that point if you do.
AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine FAQ: Why do the age recommendations keep changing? Does it cause VIPIT blood clots? Is it effective against variants?
With changing recommendations about AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine making headlines, many people have questions about its use.theconversation.com
If all options were available I would pick moderna or Pfizer. As per brian ps reasonable analysis, statistically, I am better off with az sooner rather than pfizer or moderna later.I agree with both of you. Just stating my preference as if I were in a candy store picking my favourite chocolate bar. In the end, any vaccine is a blessing because they will all keep us out of the healthcare system and that's key! The blood clot issue is overplayed imo. The media loves to play these things up though and there's a portion of the population who will be turned off, That's the sad part.
Vaccination for the nation is the only way we're getting out of this mess as far as I can see.
The blood clot thing doesn't bother me but I prefer to have a high efficacy vaccine if I can get it. Pfizer & Moderna have the highest efficacy ratings by quite a wide margin over Astra or Johnson vaccines. Having said that, I'd be happy to take any one I could get at this point!
Got my shot
Very sad
People book the slot
Show up
Check in
Ask which vaccine
Of course its AZ you moron it's at a pharmacy.
3 people declined and walked away as I sat there
Idiots
On a side note: I got my wife to drive over to fill one of the vacant slots.
