I Almost Killed Myself Today On 11th Highway (Orillia)

First off, glad your OK. Second my advice is don't post this kind of stuff on this forum unless you get off on a thousand and one people telling you how dumb you are and blah blah blah. Seeing how you are O.K. after your scare I'd say you can just add this one up to a learning experience.

Absolutely fabulous thread.

I am positively surprised how much good constructive criticism the OP gets here. The question is, will he listen? I say the jury is still out there on this one. Nothing is guaranteed .... let's see how it goes in the next few month as he keeps to continue testing his, new to him, bike and his well proven skills (as per his previous posts).

did not read everything on here, I have had no problems riding the ZR7S for 80k chasing sport bikes... you are riding the bike wrong in my opinion. You are probably riding it like a dual sport / dirt bike / supermoto where you are pushing the bike down and staying up right ... fine for a high riding DS bike... doesn't work so well riding a street bike... you need to learn to hang off your body ...

different bike, different style, different skillset needed to master it...

The sport bike community has created an environment where "Chicken Strips" are a badge of dishonor...

only when a person has 2" wide chicken strips and brags endlessly of "super-duper" mad knee draggin' "skillz", refuses to take advanced training, and then goes out and tries to teach newb's

but i digress.

Peg, not to be rude, but just want to give you some clear feedback: listen to what the people above have said. you have no skills. go get some. professionally. from an advanced course. especially if you have the urge to take a corner "aggressively"

You accelerated TO 65 THEN leaned into a tight corner....lucky you are still here.

IN slow, out fast and learn your bike before you play on highways. You need saddle time at moderate speeds and perhaps ride with more experienced riders at moderate pace and see how they position into corners.

+1.

There's a time and a place for everything. You chose the wrong time and place. Glad you're ok.

I'm shocked. Honest and truly shocked. How could this have happened??

I attached my sarcasm meter to this post and the gauge exploded. I think you owe me a new one :p lol

I don't understand how someone can start a thread on how they know everything about riding and cannot possibly learn anything further and then start a thread about almost killing themselves riding, wtf???

Yes, an enigma to be sure..
Doesn't seem to be a mean spirited poster though, so even if many threads seem almost troll-like, I'm of the thinking that even if resistance to learning seems to be the norm, there will be others who can probably take away good info.

Listen to what? That I have to lean more? I already know that and always did, the thing is that i overestimated my bike that's all. You guys are talking to me as if I'm a noob, I know how to lean and can outdo or stay afloat with ANY of you here.

I have been doing motocross and I bet none of you have done the hard corners I have done or the 15 ft jumps I have done at 70 km/h. I thought my bike was good at leaning but it wasn't, if I had been a noob I would had never been able to recover from that drag at 65 km/h in a curve no less.

Or, one could argue, you wouldn't have gotten into that trouble in the first place. While some things about dirt riding translate to the street (actually more to the track than the street), the two disciplines are completely different. For example most dirt guys wouldn't think of trying to maximize front braking, because in the dirt that means washing out. Jumping doesn't enter into it, unless your last name is 'Knievel.'

A couple of days ago I say a guy on a big HD custom take a left turn at a light, at what was between 70 and 80 Kmh; roughly the same arc as that ramp. I remember being impressed at his level of control. he probably had half the clearance, that your bike has.

Thats because you're new.

If you were familiar with Pegasausage's shenanigans you'd understand it perfectly.

+ 1. I still can't tell if he's the ultimate troll, but either way these threads are funny as hell.
