Hyundai hhd1250 1000w generator at Wal-Mart

an update on the hhd1250 I bought 3 years ago. i threw it in a dumpster 2 years ago.

My champions still running like a champ, just needs an oil change before the winter.

Ct special still runs great and loudly.

Hyundai I've struggled with for two years now. As mentioned it seems to be the spark. I'm going to rip it apart again this winter but honestly this crappie genny ain't worth the hassle.

I bought the champion 2000w inverter from Costco, it's quiet and hasn't let me down yet (one race weekend and several track days), starts first pull too which is nice. I'd say it's just as quiet as a Honda and Costco is good about warrenty. You can JUST run 2 sets of warmers on it too. Good buy at $650.

These are $499 now. Picked one up and it works very well. Quiet too. Hopefully it lasts.

The Canadian Tire in Whitby is selling re furb Champion 3500w generators for $250.
They even come with the handle/wheel package.

Refurb eh? Likely means its a fixed up piece of crap back on resale. The handles/wheels will come in handy for when you are ready to wheel it to the dump after the thing craps out again.

Just stick to the Honda folks. No brainer here.

How many do they have now? Earlier this year they had more than a dozen refurb ones on sale.

USee the problem is although they are loud, they work and are cheap. The ct special was free when a buddy got frustrated, so it cost me a plug from new. The Hyundai is numerous plugs but its from walmart....hoped for the best but can't expect much.

I can buy a lot of plugs for the price of a yami/Honda. I have no problem as I am usually first to be pitted. It's your issue to pit beside a loud genny for the duration of the day. After the sun goes down then I agree it should be a quiet one or none at all.

Does anybody know the difference between the Honda EU2000i model and the EU2000KC2?

As an update, the Hyundai 200W inverter I mentioned earlier in this thread as working well since I have owned it, is now a problem. It fouls plugs in 5 mins. It extremely difficult to start at all, and fuel physically flows out of it. I suspect that the carb float is stuck or something like that. I have yet to take it apart to look .

From Saturday morning this past SOAR round (omnivore was still in his camper)

tap-tap-tap-TAP-TAP-TAP-KNOCK-KNOCK-KNOCK-KLUNK!!!

:laughing3:

Same quality engineering found in their cars too.

Now that I have my Honda EU2000 I love it.

The Hyundai HY2000 is $600 new but a few years later, even if it still works, it won't be worth much. I bought my EU2000 used for $1000 and even a few years from now ill be able to sell it for $800.

The initial investment into a Honda or Yamaha is bigger but in the long run they are actually cheaper.... not to mention they won't let you down in the middle of a race weekend.

Completely agree, the prices that some people were asking for their used Honda/Yamaha was very close the cost of a brand new one!
I picked mine up last night for 1000$, brand new in the box, never used!
Gotta love the savings of a private sale!

SO I replaced my Hydundai that was having carb issues with a used Coleman from another racer.....used it one weekend, and although noisy it worked good and started easily. Then last weekend, after being run for 10 minutes, it clattered and sezied up. Bye bye. Yamaha for next season!

Edit:

Should I put oil/gas in this thing now, or just wait until spring?
I wouldn't use it until next season anyway.

Just leave it till spring. There's no point in putting fuel/oil in it now.
